A: While you do not need to use simplehuman liners with our trash cans, we highly recommend using our custom fit liners for best overall experience, as we do have some unique shapes to some of our trash cans. Our custom fit liners are tailored to fit our cans perfectly so they stay in place and don't slip. They're also extra strong, which makes them less likely to rip and tear, even when they are full!

Built like a tank

We have two of these trash cans. One for trash and one for recycling. These are the only cans our dog can’t break into. Very good quality and very durable. Worth the money.

Almost perfect
Great trash can. Fits my kitchen perfectly, and I like that the bag is hidden when it’s closed. My one complaint is that it needs a holder on the back to hold the packs of trash bags. Seems like it would be fairly easy to have something magnetic to attach to the side or back or something that hooks into the handle on the back.

Love butterflies!
Love the butterfly lid - silent, effective, low height profile when open which means lid doesn’t hit anything when open (bins kept under standard height worksurface). Looks good, easy to clean the outside. Whilst heavy for its size that means it is stable and doesn’t move as a lighter weight bin did. Deceptive as holds more waste than I expected for the size. (Downgraded from a larger Simplehuman bin which, after 20+ years looks as good as new & has been passed on to my son!) Narrow width means I can keep the matching 18L bin alongside which I use for recycling. Like the way the liner tucks over the top of the inner bucket which in turn can be emptied without having to be lifted out entirely These bins are expensive compared to others but they retain their looks, last a long time and look good doing an essential job.

Our simple human kitchen garbage can broke after 11 years (!). It did us amazingly well (obviously) so we opted for the updated version which is slightly larger and has a stainless butterfly lid that is SO hard to come by and one of our favorite features. Huge fans of this brand and love that there is such a long warranty on their products. Totally worth the money!!

I already have the simple human butterfly 40 with two separate cans. The 45 with one can lets me go a week without having to put out the trash. Moved the butterfly 40 to the garage.
