I bought this mattress thru the internet without being able to test it at the store. Description said firm. Yes, it is firm, but it is soft also. I like a hard firm mattress better. But still feel it is a good value for the price. No more body aches and pains when I get out of bed and that is good, and I am learning to enjoy the softness. I weigh 170 lbs. but if you are the typical 300 lbs. American this mattress may not be able to give you the firm support you need.

Love the new Hybrid. Foam top provides contoured support but doesn't sink too far. The coils provide a solid foundation under the foam. Very happy!

I agree exactly with what another review wrote, I would recommend this to a lightweight single person but not a couple. We are lightweight (< 110 and < 130) but when we are both in bed it causes the lighter person to be rolled toward the heavier person if they move away from the edge. We don't always have the same schedule so I was happy with it at first. It's very soft and springy and has excellent pressure relief. But once we were sleeping at the same time I was becoming more uncomfortable and waking up with lower back pain and the "hammock" feeling. Due to how low density it is it sinks too much in the middle so I think it would be a big improvement to have a firmer lumbar zone. We laid on the plush hybrid gel latex in the store and it felt about the same, so their plush rating is probably a 1 or 2 out of 10. The firm versions of the Ashley's we tried are far too dense for me, a side sleeper and were probably in the upper range of 7+. They seem like good mattresses for the price but I wish they carried something around a 4. We unfortunately had to change this mattress for another brand.
