Formula changed?
This 2-in-1 product has been a must have in my child’s curly hair routine. I’ve gone to great lengths to ensure I always had a bottle available for the past 7 years. I feels it’s a huge factor in keeping my child’s hair healthy. However, in the past 2-3 years I’ve noticed that the product suds up a lot whereas before it was a light creamy texture with hardly any bubbles. The new formula doesn’t detangle easily and I now have to use ANOTHER conditioner to fully get a brush through. I thought it was just in my imagination until I found an old bottle and used it and was WOWed by the ease of detangling and conditioning quality. It did not suds up at all, which is what I remember. I’m disappointed that the old product isn’t available. What do you recommend for this ? Is there another Shea Moisture product that has the old formula?

I use this product on both my kids who have 3C curls. I love the smell and I love that fact it’s a 2 in 1 just makes bath time easier and faster! Keeps their hair moisturized and defined!

This product was extremely drying. Both of my little ones have curly hair, and after using this product, their hair was more prone to breakage. I don’t recommend it.

2 in 1 to save a little time
I like the fact that this does not have alot of ingredients as that normally means things that are not great for hair and that's especially important for a shampoo for my kids hair. That being said, I got this 2 in 1 because I had seen some good reviews and i figured it would save time as you can imagine a toddler wouldn't want to sit still for too long. I found that it lather's up alot and so seems like more shampoo than conditioning and it does kinda leave my kids hair kinda dry. I have read that they may have changed the formula because it never used to be this way, so maybe that's it. I still will buy this for now, but I may try a separate shampoo and conditioner instead. I do like the Shea Mositure brand generally .

Did not work at all for us
I don't think I have wanted to just throw a product in the trash after trying it, but unfortunately I had to for this after 3 tries. It felt like it did nothing to my daughters hair and didn't make any suds or anything. It just tangled her hair even more. The only positive is that it smells good.

We love this shampoo. My daughter has very fine & curly hair, when we use this product it immediately helps to detangle her hair. It smells so nice, which is a bonus. It’s a thicker product so it can be hard to get out of the bottle towards the end but it’s a minor complaint. Well worth the product for it’s price !

Do not recommend for fine type 3a curls
I wanted to like this shampoo/conditioner but it is a horrible formula. I use some of the SheaMoisture products for my daughter's fine curly hair and a long as I use a little it is great for her hair. I used this Shampoo/conditioner on her hair for about a month. I has great slip and appears to be highly moisturizing, but it was cause her hair to get knotty while trying to brush and it made her hair feel stiff...it's weird to explain. I have noticed that the more wash days we use it those symptoms seem to increase. And it's only while the shampoo/conditioner is in her hair...once it's washed out her hair seems to go back to normal. I do not know if it was causing her hair to be dry, but I noticed a huge difference when I washed her hair with another product (not your mother's) that had medium moisture. With a different shampoo & conditioner her hair seemed to curl more and seemed healthier. I am very disappointed in this product by SheaMoisture....I love their other products and will continue to use it. I really wanted to give it a fair chance and after about a month I just didn't want to ruin my daughter's hair. Something to note, in the very first and maybe second wash everything was fine.... but the more I used it the more these things seemed apparent.
