Q: Which has more plastic per load: the powdered detergent box or the pods and their packaging?

A: I’m no expert, but I think more plastic would be in the pods, which are covered in a plastic wrap that disintegrates during the wash, and potentially traces can end up left on your dishes and silverware. This is one reason why people avoid the pods and only use the loose dishwashing powder.

A: Thanks for asking! We recommend filling the main dispenser cup according to machine directions. For very hard water we recommend using Seventh Generation Rinse Aid - we hope this helps.

Q: Is there plastic in the packaging for this item?

A: Thanks for asking for our Free & Clear Auto Dishwasher Detergent Powder. Unfortunately, our cardboard box packaging for our dishwasher powdered detergents is not recyclable. The box is coated with a plastic layer which is necessary on all powdered detergent and serves as a moisture barrier to protect the powder from humidity and moisture, which can ruin the detergent. This coating used to be on the interior of the dish detergent box, so you may not have noticed it before. Having this coating on the exterior of the packaging helps to protect the box. We're actively looking to develop a better, biodegradable humidity coating and hope to have it nailed down soon! We hope this helps!

A: Thanks for reaching out about our Free + Clear Auto Dishwasher Detergent! Based on volume of product and that standard dishwasher detergent compartments hold 1 oz. of detergent, will handle 45 loads. Actual loads handled can vary, based on size of load and amount of detergent used, based on how heavily soiled dishes are. We hope this helps!

I’ve used it twice an it gets caked up in the soap holder. It doesn’t clean the dishes at all. I’ve had to rewash my dishes and they are still dirty. Switching back to liquid soap.

Use less, way less
This is soooo good. I can put a fraction of what I was using with Cascade, and it cleans great. If you are having white film or residue, try using way less. Like 1/4 of what you are used to and splash a little in the pre wash. The unscented is also such a game changer. Spatulas and silicone parts no longer absorbing the smell of the soap.

Did not clean effectively. Left horrible film on dishes, especially glass. AND I used a rinse aid. Have never had this problem with other detergents, liquid or powder form.

This detergent doesn’t smell like a bunch of chemicals, like other name brand powder detergents do! It also leaves my ceramic bowls scratch-free! You know those marks that some detergents leave in your bowls that look like someone drew all over them with a pencil? This removes those marks after several washes! Please, please don’t discontinue!!
