Thin, yes, but that works for me!
I really do like this bedspread set. Yes, it is on the thin side compared to a quilt or comforter, but it's not meant to be a quilt or comforter. This can be used all year long and provides a nice lightweight cover to transition between seasons when a comforter may be too much. The chenille itself is probably not as soft as you might expect, but this is the 21st century, and that soft, cuddly, frilly stuff your granny had is a bit outdated. This fabric would work well for any gender. I would like to point out that the shams shown differ from the ones I actually received. Mine do not have the wide hem around the edges, which I am thankful for because I prefer the no-hem look. Also, I did find a couple of small "bald" spots in the chenille area, but they are barely noticeable. I washed the set in cold water and tumble dried on low and it came out very nice with minimal, if any, shrinkage. It hangs to the floor on both sides of my king and that was very important to me. There is a small bit of shedding, but I'm sure that will decrease after future launderings.
