Description
Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sunny Mix thrives in direct sun. This mix contains Root-Building Nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to help establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf so that you can build a better, stronger lawn from the roots up. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sunny Mix is designed for full sun and light shade, and has medium to high drought resistance with medium to high durability. It can be used to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 55°F and 70°F or air temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. One 2.4 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Sunny Mix has a new lawn coverage of 360 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 1,080 sq. ft.

Bag clearly states water 2x daily. Scott’s site say’s daily. I bought a faucet timer so I could water twice a day. Which is it? Once a day or twice a day? Should I send back the timer? Not one article in the Scott’s website mentions watering twice a day.

Hello Denbo. Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Heat-tolerant Blue Mix For Tall Fescue Lawns should be watered immediately after seeding; watering is necessary for seed germination and survival. Keep the soil continually moist for the first few weeks. We recommend watering at least twice a day (morning and evening). If temperatures are high, you may need to water 3 times (morning, evening, and afternoon)

Lovely grass
I planted this a few weeks ago in a bare area and it's sprouted after just 8 days. And now it's about an inch and a half 2 in high and it looks beautiful.

So far, perfect!!
I seeded a small area (100 sq ft) that I have been having issues with for a couple of years. I removed the old sod, and replaced the top couple of inches with new soil and compost. After seeding, I lightly raked the seed into the soil and then covered the area with a very thin layer of peat moss. Depending on the weather, I lightly watered it either once or twice a day. A little over 3 weeks later, it looks AWESOME. I plan on tackling a larger area in my back yard in the spring.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This help to cover some bare spots in the front yard that required the same maintenance and time to get grass to grow. The front yard gets lots of direct sunlight and I watered daily in the evening after sunset. Great results and the spots are covered with green grass!

The area I seeded gets full sun all day and I'm in southern California so I needed a heat and drought tolerant grass. I seeded the area twice and it grew in a couple square inch patches here and there. Now I've just got weeds. Watered every day. Been about a month. Not certain what happened but seems I'm not the only person who's had an issue with this mix.

Grass will grow...
This is pretty much Rye grass, it's the only thing that grew. I have a Fescue lawn, so everywhere I used this product to repair empty spots it's now just Rye grass. Doesn't look bad, because there is grass there, but if you cut at 4", Rye grass sucks.

In the spring, it takes a lot of consistent warm temperatures to warm up the soil. Cool nighttime temperatures can delay the germination process even if warm enough during the day. Germination should begin in 6-14 days under ideal growing conditions and will take about a month to fully germinate. Both excessive moisture and not enough moisture can inhibit seed germination. Weed control product used on sew seedlings will kill seedlings. Do not apply a weed control that is registered for lawn use until it has been cut at least 3-4 times. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] For some reason every year i have bare spots in my lawn so this year I figured I would try this. It did take some trial and error but once the temperatures hit the right temp these grew in pretty fast, sprouts within a few or two, I definitely suggest getting some soil or hay to cover because the birds kept trying to eat all my seed but it came up really well through my cheap top soil and most of my spots are filled in and the rest of the seed I had I used to fill out my lawn which cause it’s to be nice and thick so this seeds works really well.
