They do exactly as described and expand immediately with water. They are easily cleaned by placing in the dishwasher, which also sanitizes them. The fit in the palm of your hand comfortably.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the Scotch-Brite Cat Pop Up Sponges. I was sent a package of them by 3M to use and review my use of them. I really like them as they are flat and compact when new, are easy to store taking up minimal storage space. As flat as they were in the package I didn’t know how they would expand and work. Once they are in water or liquid they expand and work like a sponge. I like the shape as they fit comfortably in my hand. The sponge stays in the palm of my hand making it so easy to clean and scrub counters, sinks, dishes, cabinets anything I can use a hand size sponge on to clean. These pack of three sponges have one with a cat face, one with cat paws and another one with a cat head silhouette making it a perfect gift for cat lovers. I think it will make a perfect gift for my great nieces who are cat lovers and are learning to help out with cleaning and doing dishes. These sponges will be easy and fun for them to use helping out at their home. The sponges can be sanitized in the dishwasher or by boiling. They are not recommended to be sanitized in the microwave. I like that when the sponge dries it maintains the same shape that fits in my palm. It is great to clean kitchen cabinets, easy to use cleaning down the stove. It curves around the stove dials and burners, bathroom faucets and drains, good to clean non stick pots and pans. I will be purchasing these in the future to have in my kitchen and bathroom.

On that note, they amazed me ! As to their use, they are great sponges for general use. They really don't have any scouring power. They definitely will not scratch an item. Due to their initial compressed size, they are great for travelling. I will buy these assuming they are priced right.

The packaging does not give enough credit as to how they pop up when they expand in water. Great to use for washing dishes, wiping counters, etc. AND they are dishwasher safe!! The other 2 that are not being used are so easy to store. Can't wait to use the next one! GREAT PRODUCT.

They come thin and can fit in small areas when they are first opened. When you submerge them in water they become soft and work just like original sponges which is such a good idea because you can easily store them, and don’t have to worry about mildew. The size is just what I want because they are a little more mini then regular sponges but work better and last longer. I really enjoy these sponges and now am a loyal user of these sponges. I like the designs and how you can match the sponges to your favorite rooms and colors. They have so many different styles and colors and you can use them for many different cleaning uses.

For little spills or simply wiping down surfaces that aren't particularly grimy, they're perfectly okay and get the job done in a pinch. Overall, they're more of a light-use type of sponge, and they seem intentionally designed to be disposable rather than durable workhorses. That said, they'd make an absolutely adorable basket add-in for any cat lover—or really, any fur baby enthusiast! At heart, these are just a kitschy, whimsical cat-themed item that's far more about fun than function. They expand once you get the wet. They are small hand held size too once they are expanded for use. Great for use around the home for cleaning. Also like that you can wash them in the dishwasher for longer uses before they get really nasty.

Watching the blow up reminded me of when my sons were young and the would get the washclothes that were shrink wrapped. I took the sponges to work so I can wash my lunch dishes. They work great, the hold soap better than most and rinse well. They also dry out nicely. Another great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh these kitty-themed sponges couldn't be any cuter! They pop at the sink & bring smiles while working exceptionally well. I use them daily to prewash dishes and to wash those items that cannot go into the dishwasher. The sponge's density is strong enough to hold up to regular use while also being able to hold a soapy solution. The "abrasive" side is gentle and hasn't scratched any surfaces, including my stainless steel pans. I routinely place them in the dishwasher (top rack) for cleaning and they last about a month in our household. I have used this same sponge with different styles for years and am always very pleased. Before first use, the sponges are thin and are easily stored. The sponge expands when put into water and is great for tackling light to medium cleaning projects. Would be nice if the sponge had an abrasive side to handle those tough jobs.

They are flat until you add water to them and then they immediately expand to the size of a regular sponge and remain expended. The sponges are soft. They do not have a scrubbing side. This is perfect for some of my delicate dishes or non stick pots and pans. The sponges hold up well and last as long as other sponges I have had do. I love that the extras don’t take up much space to store. I don’t have a lot of space anyhow, so every little amount of space I can save is helpful. I was able to clean the sink and it didn't look like there was any wear on the pad. I then used it on my club aluminum cookware and it took the gunk off without a lot of elbow grease. It's easy to hold in my hand, really easy to use.
