Wood color is lighter than photos

This was not the color advertised. I thought it would be an almond-colored wood but it's way lighter, like a sandy light brown. The planks are made of wood but the paint is plastic-y so it makes them look fake. I'm so disappointed in this purchase. I don't know how I'm going to return this massive thing.
