Love it!
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Works greta it’s nice and simple perfect to take anywhere if needed works good as an extra burner in the kitchen or we also use it at the trailer as it’s much safer option then propane! Love it

Disappointed
I also couldn't get it hot enough to boil water. Put a 2 quart pot mostly filled with water on the burner, covered it and turned the heat to MAX. After more than 10 minutes water still wasn't boiling and I was afraid it would overheat, so I returned it.

Hi Sally C, with a 1000-watt element, Salton's Portable Cooktop model HP1940 will bring water to a boil. Avoid using over-sized cookware. The cookware's diameter should be close to the size of the coil element's diameter. Use flat bottomed cookware only. This will provide the best heat transfer. If possible, use a lid on the cookware to keep the heat locked inside.

love CANADIAN Salton.
I have had 3 of these in the last 20 years. 1 was "lost" by movers, 1 is still used as a back up in our house and the one I have been abusing in my 90% full time vanLife in the Canadian wilderness. The last one needs replacing after 3 years of every day use and being bumped and dropped etc. It still works, I just don't want to be without one. My first one lasted 12 years, college, miilitary, kids.

Insufficient heat
I purchased this a week ago and it would not boil more than a litre or so of water. I've tried multiple pots just to try, no difference.

Salton Portable Cooktop model HP1940 has 1000 watts of power. Certainly capable of boiling 1 litre of water. To maximize efficiency, we recommend using flat bottom cookware with diameter close to the coil element size. Using a lid will also increase efficiency.
