The base is plain medium brown and does not look like wood, but like the resin that it is. For some reason the whitewashed/beige resin lamp bases look much better.

Very nice lamps

Very nice lamps. Just what I wanted for my nightstands. They look just as pictured, although the shades were a little darker beige than I had been expecting. They arrived quickly, and in good condition. Very pleased with my purchase.
