Guests are saying

The reviews highlight a significant concern regarding the new child-proof packaging of the hearing aid batteries, which many guests find difficult to open, especially those with limited hand strength. However, the batteries themselves are praised for their long-lasting performance and reliability. Guests appreciate the convenience of the packaging design that allows for easy dispensing of batteries, making them suitable for everyday use. Overall, while the product's functionality is well-regarded, the packaging needs improvement to enhance user experience.

    child proof package

This is 2nd pack of batteries I have bought . No problem with the batteries, but the packaging is terrible . This child proof is also senior proof !! I am not weak in the hands and cannot get the battery out even with scissors without a major operation . I think of the elderly, living alone who have no assistance . Suggest a little less of child proof and more senior friendly .

Thank you for submitting your review, Leila. Many thanks for you feedback on the new child-resistant packaging. We have changed the packaging format to be in compliance with Reese’s Law, which states that all button, coin and hearing aid batteries – and devices powered by those batteries – must be contained in child-resistant packaging that features specific warning copy. The products have been subject to rigorous independent tests, confirming that the new packaging is 100% child resistant*, and zero batteries were accessed by children during CRP testing.* The new plastic dial includes additional staking points for extra security. By that nature it does mean that there will be a difference for users in how to access batteries in the pack, compared to previous packaging. The independent testing also showed that 99% of seniors were able to open the pack for the first time in under one minute*. On the second attempt, this time halved* so we found that consumers become faster with more familiarity and with instruction. We want to support everyone through the transition to child-resistant packaging and have prepared the following video that shows you how to open the pack. https://youtu.be/Si6aKj-1doQ “ Please reach out to us on RayovacConsumerServices@energizer.com or give us a call on 1-800-237-7000 to assist you better. So difficult to remove individual batteries

It takes great pressure to cut through the plastic encasing the batteries. Then you have little shards of hard plastic that cut like broken glass. I end up removing all six at one time, then storing them loosely, which defeats the concept of child resistance.

    Horrible new packaging

I've used Rayovac HA batteries for many years. The older packaging with the rotating wheel was great. The new packaging is not - requires one to cut into the plastic housing and squeeze out each battery. And one is left with a less than optimal container for holding the remaining batteries. I need to shop for an alternative it appears

This package is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. I'm a 79 year old that cannot get into the pagageing! Thankfully, my husband searched his tool box to find something that could make the cut you suggest. I will be contacting t Veteran admiration about this problem. I have no children.

    Great battery

Been using them for years and have to tell you it's the worst packaging idea I have seen. Child proof yes, arthritic hands, no. Your other packages were great. Will search for other supplier.

    packaging is absolutely horrible

This is the worst packaging possible. I have "cut myself" twice from the packaging while trying to open them. I suggest that you get a sample group (older people) and have them try to get a battery when needed. Maybe you can change the packaging to something that is easy and safe.

Near impossible to open at any age/any equipment

New "child proof" is horrible. Knives won't cut, scissors certainly don't. I must use the tip of electrical pliers to cut the packaging, and small screw driver to then ply it apart I wouldn't recommend this to an enemy let alone a friend.

    Hate the new packaging

I’ve used ray o vac batteries now for the 10 years I’ve been wearing hearing aids and have found them to be as good as or better than all the other brands. My complaint is the new childproof packaging that has made them almost unusable unless I’m at home with tools available to get them out. Please redesign the packaging so I’m able to use them without carrying a hardware store along with me.

    Awful new packaging

I had to purchase the new child proof package of #13 hearing aid batteries and found the design to be not user friendly and not easy to get into . I have arthritis in both hands, and carpal tunnel . I could not open with my regular scissors and had to resort to my strong kitchen shears. There should be a better way to package these necessary supplies without getting cut from the hard plastic encasing the batteries. Over all my rating on this style container is -10 . I have no small children in my home, have no small children who come , do not go,places with small children. All family and friends are adult and their children are in there teens and older . Make a choice available for persons who do not have children in the home .

    Rayovac - size 13

This new package is very difficult to open , and no, it does NOT take less than a minute to open! I have to painstakingly take out of package to take some with me. Who carries a scissors around with them?? I bought them & now it’s too late to return ! Please change the packaging! Will NOT purchase again.

    Child Resistant package

This new packaging is super difficult to open! Using scissors you must cut thru that hard plastic and then pry the hard plastic apart so the battery will fall out. Directions were not very clear, so I may have not done it correctly, but WOW! Awful package! But batteries have a good life/usage.

    Impossible to open as directed

Only by resorting to wire cutters could I finally extract the batteries. Heaven help you if you needed to change batteries quickly. How many pairs of scissors will be destroyed chewing open the plastic? Yes I'm old. That frequently goes with needing hearing aids. How many children are endangered to justify such extreme protection?

New child safe packaging is ridiculous.

Opening your new packaging requires a scissors which not everyone carries with them when away from home. I am a senior and it is frustrating trying to cut the rigid plastic to get to the batteries. I could not find the 312 batteries in the original pack.

Child Resistant package a big pain in the ...

I bought some new size 13 Rayovac HA batteries and did not pay any attention to where it said "Child Resistant Package." That is on me. But they are a pain, because, like many folks, I carry my batteries in my pocket or in my car. I do NOT carry a pair of scissors with me. Not only is it inconvenient, cutting the package with scissors leaves nice sharp edges on the plastic. And with this new packaging I would not reach into my pocket for fear of gouging a piece of skin off my finger. I think you should have a bigger warning on the package.

    Packaging Disaster

Most of my battery changes are done in situations or locations I do not have access to scissors. I need to change batteries from my pocket with a minimum of fuss and quickly.. Pre-cutting the package dumps loose batteries in my pocket. I also cannot put used batteries back in the package for proper disposal.
