Q: Is this the same (or approximately the same) as the fancy feast petites salmon with spinach? My cat loves those, but I'd prefer a can.

submitted by CathyA - 2 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! While both recipes feature salmon and spinach, they are not exactly the same. Fancy Feast Medleys Wild Salmon Florentine with Spinach in a Light Broth is inspired by Italian cuisine and includes wild salmon with tender spinach in a delicate broth, offering a more refined and complex flavor experience. In contrast, Fancy Feast Petites Seared Salmon Entrée with Spinach in Gravy is a simpler, portioned recipe featuring seared salmon with spinach in a savory gravy, designed for convenience with twin-pack trays. So while they share similar ingredients, they differ in texture, presentation, and flavor profile—each crafted to suit different feeding styles and preferences. Another great Target delivery!

I have a very finicky young cat, so being able to buy individual kinds of Fancy Feast canned wet foods to find what she WILL like is a huge blessing. Not only this, but Target delivers so promptly too!

    Recipe Change?

This was the only food my cat has willingly ate for the past 6 months, I recently purchased a new case of it only to find either the recipe has changed or something else is wrong. This does not resemble the tuna in a creamy sauce, this looks like the tuna fare with spinach. So now I’m out the money and scrambling to now have to find something new for my cat.

Thank you for sharing your experience with Fancy Feast Medleys Tuna Florentine With Spinach in a Light Broth. We’re truly sorry to hear how upsetting this has been, especially since this was the only food your cat would willingly eat. We understand how stressful it can be to open a new case and find that the product doesn’t look or smell like the familiar tuna in a creamy sauce you were expecting. This is certainly not the experience we want for you or your cat, and we regret the inconvenience and expense this has caused. We’d appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the product you received so we can look into this further. When you have a moment, please contact us by following this link: https://www.purina.com/contact-us/. Or contact us at 1-800-933-0991. Label Mixup Perhaps

Tuna Florentine is my cats' favorite food. The last two cases (48 cans) I have purchased, from Chewy, have been labeled 'Florentine' but are actually Tuna Tuscany. They will eat the Tuscany, but they prefer the Florentine. Think maybe the labels got mixed up?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’re sorry to hear about the confusion with the Fancy Feast Medleys Tuna Florentine With Spinach in a Light Broth that you received and understand how frustrating it can be when a favorite recipe isn’t what you expected especially when your cats have a clear preference. We’re not aware of a labeling mix-up, but we would appreciate the opportunity to look into this further. Stop changing recipe without telling us first.

Fancy feast changed the recipe & the broth color, and smell. My cat will no longer eat it. Having a picky eater & this WAS his favorite, so now I am back to the store try to find something else. I bought a whole case which is a waste of money when things are already expensive.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Fancy Feast Medleys Tuna Florentine With Spinach in a Light Broth. We’re truly sorry to hear about your disappointment, especially knowing this was your cat’s favorite food. We understand how frustrating it is to have a picky eater particularly when you’ve purchased a full case and pet food costs are already high. While occasional changes in color, aroma, or texture can happen due to natural ingredient variation, we understand that any difference can affect a cat’s willingness to eat. Your feedback about the recipe, broth color, and smell is important to us and will be shared with our product team for review. My cats hate the new recipe

Purina - WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!! My cats can't eat poultry due to allergies. Tuna & Wild salmon Florentine were the only foods they would eat. And believe me, I've spent an exorbitant amount of money trying to find foods they'd eat. Now you've gone & changed the recipe for the Tuna Florentine & one cat refuses to eat it! WHY did you do this to me??????!!!!!!😭
1 reply from The Pro Plan Team team - 18 days ago
We’re very sorry for how frustrating and upsetting this has been, and we truly understand why you’re feeling this way. When you finally find foods your cats can safely eat especially with allergies involved any unexpected change can feel overwhelming and unfair. Fancy Feast Medleys Tuna & Wild Salmon Florentine recipes are meant to have a creamy white sauce, and we know how important consistency is for cats with dietary restrictions. Hearing that the Tuna Florentine no longer looks or smells the same and that one of your cats is now refusing it is deeply concerning. This is not the experience we want for you or your cats. Your feedback is extremely important, and concerns like yours are shared directly with our product and quality teams. When time permits, please reach out to us directly at https://www.purina.com/contact-us. - The Fancy Feast Team

No creamy white sauce in Tuna Florentine ??

I have been buying Fancy Feast Medleys for several years. The Florentine series has always come in a signature white creamy sauce. I recently bought a couple of cases (expiration date: Nov 2027); the cases of tuna Florentine are not in the white creamy sauce. Is something wrong with the food; or, has Purina reformulated the ingredients and removed the creamy white sauce intentionally? I am concerned about feeding my cat until I know for sure.
1 reply from The Fancy Feast Team team - 24 days ago
Thank you for reaching out to us and for your long-time loyalty to Fancy Feast Medleys Tuna Florentine With Spinach in a Light Broth. We understand why this change would be concerning, especially since the Florentine varieties have traditionally featured a signature white, creamy sauce. At this time, variations in appearance such as sauce color or consistency can occasionally occur due to normal ingredient differences or processing factors and do not necessarily indicate a safety or quality issue. However, we understand how important it is to feel confident about what you’re feeding your cat. We would appreciate the opportunity to look into this further and confirm whether any changes have occurred or if the product you received differs from our intended formulation. When time permits, please reach out to us directly at https://www.purina.com/contact-us. or contact us at 1-800-933-0991. Our team is available Monday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT. We look forward to speaking with you. - The Fancy Feast Team

    Floentine now no longer creamy

What happened to this flavor? The creamy sauce tuna florentine is no longer what is in the can. My cats who loved the old version now don’t eat. Why did you do this?
1 reply from The Fancy Feast Team team - 27 days ago
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that your cats aren’t enjoying the current version of the Fancy Feast Medleys Tuna Florentine With Spinach in a Light Broth. When a long-time favorite suddenly changes, it can be frustrating especially when your cats notice it right away. We haven’t intentionally changed the recipe, but natural ingredient variations or production differences can sometimes affect the appearance, texture, or aroma in a way pets may pick up on. That said, your feedback is important, and we’d like to look into this specific batch to understand what happened. When time permits, please reach out to us directly at https://www.purina.com/contact-us. - The Fancy Feast Team

    New To Us

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a new variety box of Fancy Feast and this flavor was included. Wasn’t sure how well it would be received since it contained greens. I fed it to our five cats and every single one loved it! It’s something I will definitely buy again for them!
