We love walking the hills in our neighborhood, but my little Poochi (a shelter rescue) has little legs and it's too much for her! However, we don't let that stop her from enjoying fresh air and a nice walk! I've been carrying her when she gets tired, but our walks are getting longer with the cooler weather. I've tried now 6 different types of carriers and NONE of them seem to be comfortable for her. I don't like backpack carriers because she would see where we've been, and not where we're going. Plus, her sibs would be completely out of her view. The idea is to bring us together on walks, not isolate her. A sling doesn't work that well because when one bends or squats down to pick up after her dogs, it would slide forward. So much for that! So I thought I would try this as it would hold her in place. A small would have been too small and the next size up was too big. Although the quality was very nice, she looked miserable! Also, if you have an older dog, getting them in and out of it (even with the zippers), would likely not be comfortable for them (they have aches and pains too!). Keeping them in an upright position as you walk would likely be uncomfortable due to the jarring/bouncing with each step. Back to the drawing board! When she was new to us, I bought an Adjustable Dog Sling Carrier for Small Dogs from an online "handmade" shop and she loved it! Every time it stormed I would put it on and she would come to me and want to get inside. I forgot all about it! It crisscrosses in the front and holds your furry snug as a bug in a rug against your chest. I know she's cozy, comfortable and feels safe in it. So I'll order a larger size to fit her now adult body. Wish there were more of this type on the market! You listening PetAmi?! ;)
