Balanced audio cables utilize impedance balanced lines that reduce EM and RF noise and extend the effective range of the cable run. Additionally, unlike standard unbalanced RCA interconnects that utilize their braid as a signal return, balanced cables have a separate braided shield to provide additional resistance to interference without modulating the interference into the signal. This prevents ground loop issues.

    High quality, very thick

    The cable seems to be very high quality. For my purposes, a thinner cable would have been adequate, but this one works fine.

    Good Build Quality

    The Stage Right microphone cable works well, and has excellent build quality. The cable itself seems robust and able to take the standard wear-and-tear of being on the road, without a problem. The XLR connectors themselves fit well into the Sound Devices 633 recorders (unlike some less well built cables we've used in the past). When the time comes, we'll be buying more of these mic cables.

    Overall good cables for non-critical recording

    You get the quality you pay for. The cables are mostly very good. What does that mean? Well they smear high frequencies. Sounds like that of high hats aren’t as clear or pristine, but rather smear. Akin to a water color painting getting slightly wet and the colors run a little. Overall and aside of the high frequency smear, the cables are working fine for my application.
