A really good sub let down by a picky detail
I'm being very picky here. This is a very good quality sub with a very low quality speaker wire connector. Really.....spring clips?

1- passive sub - goes down below 40hz
Needs some break-in time, and there is zero information in the package on wall cavity prep. I think it is fairly important to brace the drywall to prevent it from vibrating/ rattling. Also to fill the cavity w. fiberglass insulation. It is easier to do this up front, rather than taking the speaker out of the wall and retrofit after you find that the wall resonates like crazy.

Buy a boxed sub
I had nothing but problems with these. Tons of rattle on frequencies close to 45hz and below. Once in a great while, it would produce a sound where I heard/felt the bass. After several attempts to stop any rattling, one of the push pins broke on the grill making it even worse. Once you buy two of these and an amp, you're at $400. Save your time and frustration and use that $400 on the 10inch monolith subwoofer.

rocking the bathroom
I replaced the Aria in wall speaker with the Alpha just like another reviewer did. I built a box around the Alpha and the sound really improved as compared to the Aria. Building the box in the wall made a big difference as I hadn't done this with the Aria. I then purchased a subwoofer amplifier and this helped the sound too. However, building the in wall box around the subwoofer was the thing that made the biggest difference. Now I'm rocking out in my bathroom with my system!

good speaker, bad grill
Speaker quality seems good but grill doesn't sit tight enough on speaker and creates some vibration. Recommend a better attachment system for the grill to the speaker body. Also, grill is not easy to paint, I had to pull out the mesh screen and spend a lot of time painting/touchup/perforating. Recommend larger holes in grill to make painting easier.

Great in-wall solution
Great solution for home theatre low end subwoofer if the baffle is dampened properly. Nice stealth look.

Great value
Well-made, clean install, Would benefit from a back-box install to control x-max. Not truly a sub-woofer in that low frequency is 33Hz, and seems like it would benefit from a filter that cuts lower frequencies.
