No external amplifier needed
These speakers work well with minimal wattage receivers. High watt speakers tend to distort with most home stereos. It?s hard to find speakers matched to a mid-priced stereo receiver.

Bracket Rust
I mounted the speakers on the radar arch in my sailboat. The speakers seem very waterproof and robust. The input connection is sealed with an O ring and the housing and grill appear to be a non corroding alloy. The sound is about what you would expect of a small speaker in free air. However, the bracket appears to be nothing but painted steel and is already beginning to rust after less than a year. I am not looking forward to trying to fabricate a new bracket out of stainless or aluminum so will probably be forced to replace these due to the bracket failing.

Good value for the price. Could have a little better bass though. Quality built and appears to be rugged.

Patio Music
I installed these speakers a couple of weeks ago under our back patio and just love the way they sound. They are a great purchase for the price. I hope they perform at this level for years to come!

Inexpensive, easy and sounds great.
Great inexpensive outdoor speakers. Very easy to set up. Sound is much better than my old speakers in which the terminals had deteriorated beyond use.

Best outdoor speaker for the price
Of course these are not the best outdoor speakers, but they are the best at this price, no doubt.....

Outstanding overall. Not great bass response, but much better when adjusted with a decent receiver.
I had a cheap set of outdoor speakers for years and they were...speakers...but definitely didn't sound good. I wanted to replace them for quite some time, and finally got these for just over $40. First of all, what do you want for $40?! But I've come to expect much from Monoprice. So, these were inexpensive, have a great build quality, and sound pretty darn good, again, especially considering the price. When I first heard them I went and told my family to come listen, all filled with glee! They sounded so much cleaner then my old clunkers. And, with a decent receiver, you can add a little more bass to get a better, fuller sound. These are not particularly booming on the bottom end. But, my ancient Team receiver kicked up the low end and they are tuned pretty well. Very happy with my purchase!

outdoor speakers
So far, so good. I think that for the price they seem to be very good. I am covering them if there is a big downpour to be safe. Only thing I would really like is a better method of connecting the little pigtails to the main wire runs. I am using waterproof, direct bury wire nuts and will probably change that in the future.

Lost Screw-In Cable Adapter
Since you are unable to get this piece replaced, and if your speakers are out of warranty, pin 1 and pin2/3 are the + and - terminals. I wired them up with some crimps. Crimp the speaker wire first, then pre-crimp the open end to tighten up the hole and using small pliers to grip the crimp, slide them snuggly down onto the pins! Note: be careful not to apply any left/right pressure when sliding the adapted crimps onto the pins as they snap off fairly easily. Also be aware, this would make the speaker not ideal for outdoor applications as the pins are no longer sealed off from water.

Perfect for Surround
Unusual 5 pin plug,. Blends in the white walls just fine. Sonically up to the task.

Still great after all these years
I wrote a review of these speakers about four years ago. I have now had them on my porch for just over five years. They are running off of an 8 watt tube amp (K12G) which is usually hooked up to an iPhone. The sound is still as pleasing as it was five years ago. Some of the white paint has flaked off of the grille on one of them, but it still looks pretty good. These speakers are outdoors all of the time, but are not directly exposed to rain. They live in Maryland, so they see 100+ degrees and high humidity in the summer and near zero degrees in the winter. I would buy these again or recommend them to a friend in a heartbeat.
