So awesome
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great replacement filter, I couldn't be happier. The water tastes refreshing and great and doesn't have that mineral taste. It was very easy to install and replace the filter in my refrigerator and anyone can do it. It took all of 5 minutes to remove some of the food, take out the old filter and put in the new one, then put the food back. I'm completely happy with my Mist filter, Thank you.

Simple to install!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mist refrigerator water filter is a great product! You replace this filter about every 4-6 months to keep your water filtered correctly. It was super easy to install. You just twist the old filter out and twist in the new filter. After that you need to run 4 gallons of water out of your refrigerator to get it working properly on filtering. Overall this is a great product for my refrigerator and I highly recommend it!

So far so good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Now thats some high quality h2O! Easy to install and fits well just like the OEM. Water taste great. Only thing is I can not find any info about how much it filters out. OEM tells you everything it will filter. It does claim to last as long about 6 montha or 300 gallons. Not sure if this is as high of quality filter by comparison but so far seems pretty good and any filter is better than none.

Clean, Refreshing Water, at a Reasonable Price
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Water filters are expensive. I get it. We want quality, but we don’t generally want to pay for it, especially when you have to replace them every 3-6 months if you have hard water and use your water dispenser/ice maker a lot… like we do. We have a GE Adora side-by-side that uses the MWF water filters. The GE OEM filters are ridiculously expensive and don’t seem to produce any better results that certain other filters I’ve tried… with the understanding that not all cost-effective filters are built the same. Some are the same as GE OEM filters. Others are junk. I’m thrifty and have tried many. The Mist MWF replacement for GE MWF smartwater, MWFA, MWFP, GWF, GWFA, Kenmore 9991,46-9991, 469991 refrigerator filter seems on par with the “okay” sets of filters that I tend to purchase based on my specific water filtration needs. My experience follows. YMMV. Pros: In the box, you get instructions, reminder stickers, and the filter itself. The stickers are a nice touch. Some use them to remind them when to replace the filter. My fridge has a built-in filter “monitor” that generally indicates when the filter needs replaced. We have very hard water. I use any included stickers to note when I installed the filter, so I know generally when I install it and whether I’m getting my money’s worth… some filters last longer than others. The filter was direct fit. Easy to install. Remove old filter. Replace with the Mist filter, ensuring to twist and lock in place. Run a gallon of water through to clear out filtration sediment (carbon) and flood the filter chamber to remove air. Expect blowback from your water dispenser when doing this. I use a deep pitcher to lessen spray, as blowback is normal for all new filters. Some have less blowback than others; but, blowback is normal. The filter compartment has air in it that the water needs to push out… again, contrary to other reviews that said they didn’t understand why their lines were surging at install and spray was occuring, this is completely normal and expected. After purging the water line of air and ensuring a solid stream of water, I gave the water a taste. And, it was fine. No, it’s not, “close your eyes and you’re whisked away to a pristine tropical island” wonderful. No filter I ever used was. But, I don’t taste chlorine or any of the other stuff that I know is in our borough’s tap water… which works well for me and my family. Of note, after a month’s use, I still have a steady stream of water that allows enough water pressure to fill my ice maker tray and ensure a good stream from my water dispenser -- just as good as any other filter I used, including GE’s. Cons: I can’t say exactly why, but this filter seems lighter than another “cost effective” filter I typically use. There could be a number of reasons for this that I won’t speculate on, as I’m not dissecting my new filter to find out. Based on the product site pics, it almost seems as if there isn’t the same amount of filtration material inside the filter housing. But, I can’t/am not willing to cut open the filter body to confirm this. FWIW, the filter body and build seem sufficient. It just has slightly less “heft” compared to other filters I used. General Considerations: There are many claims in the consumer filtration world about NFS/ANSI certs, etc. The NSF ensures that “an independent organization reviews a product or system to comply with specific standards for safety, quality, sustainability or performance.” The Mist filter claims to be tested and NSF/ANSI certified to Standard 42 -- confirmed on the NSF site. Others claim to be NSF 372 certified. Yet others claim to be NSF/ANSI 42/53 certified. The more certs, the more the filter does… and the generally-more expensive the filter is. In addition to many other NSF/ANSI filtration ratings, here’s the deal, (according to the NSF site, which I highly recommend you visit before making any filtration purchase, as you can research a company’s current cert standing before buying), NSF/ANSI 42 certified means that the filter meets the minimum requirements for a system designed to reduce specific "aesthetic" or "non-health-related" contaminants -- chlorine, taste and odor, chloramine, particulate, iron, manganese, zinc, and total dissolved solids. That is, the carbon filter makes water taste, smell, and look better. NSF/ANSI 53 certified means that the filter meets the minimum requirements for a system designed to reduce specific "health-related" contaminants (lead, Cryptosporidium, VOCs, chromium, etc.) Here, the filter does a little more work and clears out stuff that your water might or might not have to begin with to make your water healthier to drink. NSF/ANSI 372 means that the filter itself is made with less than .25% lead by weight. Less lead in the unit means less likelihood of lead getting in your water/going in a landfill. So, what are you getting with the Mist unit? Like most other “cost-effective” filters, you’re getting a carbon filter that removes bad taste, odor, and other water “floaties” that you might or might not experience/see in your home’s water. NSF/ANSI 53 and higher filters require better internal components; so, understandably, you’ll generally pay more. FWIW, I would review your municipality’s water reports and have independent reports run by state certified laboratories on your house water (not by a company trying to sell you a filtration system). My water is in good standing (at least in “acceptable limits” according to all reports, that break down very clearly what is found in our water, at the source and after treatment plant filtration, and based on tests run on the house water when we first moved in a few years ago). For my purposes, the Mist water filter’s confirmed NSF/ANSI 42 rating and resulting filtration suffices. Worth the purchase? It depends on your filtration needs/wants. I used the Mist filter for a month now. The filter performs (taste, odor elimination, consistent good water pressure that allows water to fill my ice tray and provide water through the dispenser) as well as any other I’ve used. For me, then, it comes down to cost. The Mist filter is simply less expensive than other filters I’ve used. If, like most other units I’ve tried due to our hard water, it lasts three to four months, I’ll be happy and will continue to use Mist filters in my GE Adora fridge. For now, I’ll give it a solid four-star rating for what it is. The only reason it loses a star is due to the Mist filter being seemingly lighter than others I’ve used. I hope this review helps. :)

Better tasting water!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mist GE MWF, GWF, Refrigerator Water Filter. GE Water Filter makes a big difference in my water. My daughter said my water had a little smell. After using the filter we could tell a big difference. The water tasted good and didn’t have a smell. Changing a filter is easy to do and gives me a piece of mind. I have well water and they are different kind of germs I want to be protected from. I feel GE water filter helps to protect my family.

Water tastes great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easy to install replacement for the GE MWF filter. Only issue is with the connection, it causes the water dispenser in the refrigerator to randomly spray bursts of water. Usually they recommend clearing out the first gallon of water after a new filter is installed, but that doesn't seem to stop the random bursts.
