Slide-out shelf is flawed

There are two flimsy slats that are loosely glued into the top that the slide-out shelf rides on. I ordered two of these table and on one table, the slats were both unattached and loose in the box and the shelf doesn't work without them. The second table had one glued in with the other loose, again causing the shelf to not work. I will keep these and just not use that shelf feature but I'm not happy.
