Mayfair Games Catan Histories Settlers of America Trails to Rails Board Game: Strategy Game for 3-4 Players

After reading reviews of Catan - Settlers of America, I was worried about a one sided game where an early advantage lead to an easy win. In our first game as a family this couldn't be further from the truth. Our game came down to the final turn and all four players were within striking distance of the win. We rarely had a Catan game end so close; especially with the Expansion games. The game design is very clever and we found the early leaders were not the eventual winners. Although the game will not have the continued randomness available with Catan, we certainly have not figured out a fail-safe strategy yet. It was a longer game than the original, so be prepared. We highly recommend this version to any Catan player looking for a more clever twist to the game than the Expansion sets provide. Because it is a complete game, we also found it a much better value than some of the expansion sets.

We got this for my Dad for Christmas. We've only played it once, but we all enjoyed it and are looking forward to playing it again. It is a VERY different version of Cattan, this is not a simple expansion or small change, but we really enjoyed all the difference. It is a longer game, especially the first time you play it.
