Masoor Gota or Football dal is orange in colour, slightly sweet in taste and a high source of fibre and iron. It is used in soups, stews and other dishes especially in the Indian subcontinent, which has a large vegetarian population. It is basically whole red lentil without skin and is red in colour. It does not need soaking prior to cooking as it is a soft dal and cooks quickly. When cooked, masoor football turns a soft golden colour and has a pleasant earthy flavour.

Masoor Gota gives an amazing taste when used in curries, soups and stews.
To add that extra taste, you can cook it with tomatoes and sprinkle spices on it.
They are also often cooked with spices to make the Indian dish dhal.
They break down while cooking, which makes them perfect for savory dishes of all sorts.
