I bought these maple chips in the store before reading any reviews. I planned to use them to make some fudge or cookies for holidays. After I got home I searched for recipes using these chips and found the reviews and they weren’t wrong. I tried one chip - it tasted like butterscotch and chemicals. The aftertaste was absolutely terrible. The texture was very waxy, which means they wouldn’t melt well. Target, you missed the boat on this one - I’ve always been very pleased with Good and Gather products, but this product should have never been put on the shelves.

Tastes more like butterscotch than maple, but that’s not the problem. These chips turn your tongue and the entire inside of your mouth a dark yellowish orange color, and not just a little bit. Quite the surprise.

A waste of money
These were a disappointment and ended up in trash. Trying them plain out of the bag, they had a very slight maple taste and a terrible bitter aftertaste. The texture was waxy. No one in my household was willing to eat more than the first taste.

So Disappointed!
So disappointed in these! I sell cookies for a living and thought these sounded amazing for a fall/winter cookie. I tasted them right out of the bag and they smelled and tasted pretty good. Then I made a batch of cookies with them and they were AWFUL! The color turned to a weird unappetizing orange once cooked and our tongue tingled when eating them, like a chemical. They also lost all their maple taste and smell once cooked, just tasting like butterscotch. I wouldn't recommend and was so mad I wasted a whole batch of cookies on them!

Target please try these again
Reviews are really accurate, these are just horribly artificial. The color is way too much and dyes your tongue so hard that no oral hygiene product can touch it, and the chemical aftertaste overpowers even the most wishful thinking. I really wanted to like these. Target pleeeeease try again next year, there’s so much potential for this to be an amazing product, but.. scrap this particular formula.

Terrible chemical after taste
I was so excited when I saw these and bought 4 bags. They smelled just like maple but had a weird chemical aftertaste. They were also a really artificial burnt orange color that was not pleasing when baked. I would not recommend these and regret buying so many. I hate to even give these away to someone else they are that bad.

No maple flavor after baking.
These were such a disappointment. If you eat them straight out of the bag, there is maple flavor. Once you bake them, however there is nomaple flavor. They also have a very odd color.
