How to Use Lehman's Popcorn Popper: Place popper kettle on burner.. Pour enough oil in to cover about half of the bottom. As the oil warms, it will spread to cover the entire bottom.. Lift kettle from burner and tilt the popper to help oil flow and cover the bottom.. Place kettle back on burner and turn burner on high to warm the oil.. Within 30 seconds or so, pour enough kernels in to cover the bottom of the popper about one layer deep. Be careful to not overfill.. Put lid on kettle and turn crank a few times to help spread the oil and to bathe the kernels in oil.. Turn burner to high. Popcorn will begin popping within a couple minutes. When the kernels start to pop, begin turning crank handle again.. When the rate of popping is down to once every 10 seconds or so, remove the kettle from heat.. Remove the lid immediately to prevent popcorn from getting tough.. Pour into bowl. Use caution, as popcorn kettle and lid will be hot. (Place empty kettle and lid on a heat-resistant surface, such as the stovetop away from the hot burner, until cool.). Helpful Hints: You can use less oil to reduce calories, but popcorn may scorch. More oil reduces the chances of unpopped kernels, reduces the chance of scorching and improves the flavor. Continuous stirring is not necessary, but the more you stir, the better your results!
