Lands' End Women's Outerwear Expedition Down Waterproof Winter Parka

I live in Vermont, where winter is cold, snowy and stormy. I went from my 7 year old, packable, down jacket to this, in part because I run colder as I age. This coat is exactly what I was looking for! Its tall neck keeps the wind from blowing down my neck. It’s got so much ease that it will easily take a thick sweater under it, but it’s so warm that I don’t really need one. It’s so heavy (6 or 8 pounds - I haven’t weighed it!) that it’s almost too heavy. It cuts the wind, so you literally can’t really feel it if you have your back to it. Once the heat comes up in the car, I’m sweating until I get it off. But I love it! i love being warm! It’s great for winter walking and window-shopping downtown, at an event or even going to and from the car. My girlfriend once loaned me her expensive fur trimmed Woolrich parka to walk around Manhattan, and I do believe this is every bit as warm as that coat at half the price. It’s a little heavy getting it in and off, but once it’s on, it’s joyously warm. I do highly recommend this coat if you have cold and snowy winters.

I bought this coat back in September but have not had cold weather until the past few weeks so could not rate this coat. I will give credit that it has nice features & is true to size. However I HATE this coat! It is noisy & stiff with movement. It is not warm at all. There is no insulation in the sleeves, only the two fabric layers. My back & especially my arms feel chilly even with a sweater on. In order to make this coat serviceable for cold weather I am going to have to make a lining for it but the sleeves will still be very cold.

Disappointed in this parka. While it's sturdy, and fits well, it is not "engineered for extreme cold". Walking my dog while wearing this parka in 23 degree weather that "feels like 10 degrees" due to the wind chill, I would quite literally freeze to death were I not wearing a second hooded jacket underneath this parka. It is not as well insulated as its described. For such a heavy coat, I expected better. I also take issue with there not being a drawstring waist. The cold seeps up from underneath the parka as a result. I do not recommend this product.

The sleeves are SHORT! I’m not even tall, I’m only 5’5”. The overall quality is great, the sleeves are just short. Women’s 3x plus size.

I live in Upstate New York and we get plenty of lake effect storms. I bought this at the end of winter season last year and I'm glad I did. It's warm, breaks the wind, and keeps you dry. Love the pockets. I've also received positive comments on the color.

I wanted to love this parka. The pockets are perfection (small vertical pockets with tiny zipper pulls are useless when you're wearing gloves). The patch pocket holds keys, wallet, etc., the handwarmer pockets are nice thick fleece, and the stash pockets are great. But I had to return it as the filling in the back and shoulders just didn't keep me warm (on a 2-mile walk in 20 degrees F). If you're looking for a nice winter parka that's not super toasty, this is great. Lands' End, please keep doing these horizontal outer pockets and roomy stash pockets. Just plump up the filler a bit more!

This was a great coat, only I realised not what I was looking for. I wanted a replacement for my twenty year old Squall jacket. This new jacket was too warm for me. Sadly returned.

So warm and cozy, waterproof too, with hood, and plenty of pockets inside and out.

I haven’t worn the coat yet but it’s warm and well made. My only quibble is that the sleeves could be slightly wider to allow more room for layering underneath.

I love this coat, it's lovely and warm with loads of pockets. It feels a little heavy to pick up, but not when it's on. Well made. Perfect for cold weather.

It's ok. I hate drawstring waistlines but this has one and like too many, it rides on my ribs instead of at my waistline. Why don't you just tuck it in a little at the waist instead of using a drawstring? I wore it for the first time this evening and was cold even though the temp was 38. If I hadn't worn it I'd return it

Lovely snug coat, looks ( and is ) very warm , love the fur around the hood. It is really comfortable and practical to wear. Love it !

First off, this is an INCREDIBLY nice coat. I like how heavy and substantial it is, I can tell it is warm and waterproof and sturdy. I wanted something that would still look nice for going out occasions in New England winters and this coat looks great. I ALMOST didn't buy because I hated the huge shoulder patch but guess what, it doesn't have one!!! I got the black coat, comes with grey fur hood, has drawstrings at waist and hood, super soft fleece lined pockets, tag says the real feather down is ethically and sustainably sourced. It's a winner!!! I'm 5'4 bought the XL and it fits nicely over thick sweatshirt and pants, hits at my upper mid-thigh, below my butt. I am a size 16, around 210lbs, roughly 42C bust, 36 inch waist and 48 hip. The half off for Black Friday makes this a steal.

I had been searching for a long time for a coat that was warm, yet fashionable. I finally found it in this coat!! Now that we have had some wintery weather I can say that it is super warm! I bought the tall and it fits great. I'm 5'9" so this helped give me sleeves and overall length that are perfect. The coat has plenty of pockets and they are large. The "hand" pockets are even fleece lined so they keep your hands nice and toasty warm. They are internal pockets too. There is an internal draw string to pull it in at the waist, but I haven't had to use it as the length helps keep the wind out. The sleeve cuffs keep wind out too. The hood is warm! The entire hood comes off so the coat can be laundered. But the fur trim is not removable from the hood. So probably hand wash the hood. I also love the 2 way zipper, makes it easy to get to pockets on your pants etc. There are also snap vents on the sides at the bottom should you need a bit of extra room for wide steps like hiking or climbing. If you are looking for a nice looking but really warm winter coat - this is the one!

Just what I wanted: a warm, waterproof jacket. Would prefer that the fake fur was detachable but it's not a big problem.
