Through perseverance and dedication, they built the Acequia de San José and the Acequia de La Isla, which have known nearly two centuries of use, and transformed a small natural pond into Morphy Lake.

With the help of the documents in the Agapito Abeyta, Sr. Collection, a windfall discovered in a barn, historian Virginia Sánchez brings to light the cultural heritage of La Cebolla Valley's inhabitants.

About the Author

Virginia Sánchez is an independent scholar/public historian who lives in Colorado. She has deep roots in La Cebolla Valley and enjoys researching and finding new historical information in archives, libraries, and museums. She is a member of the New Mexico Genealogical Society and the Historical Society of New Mexico. Her articles have appeared in the New Mexico Historical Review and several genealogical society journals in New Mexico and Colorado. This is her second book.
