The ice cream machine plastic pieces are complete junk and did not fit together properly. It was not usable at all and led to a lot of frustration and tears. We usually love kinetic sand products and have the other ice cream themed set without a "machine". I would stick to that set! This one was a real disappointment.

We recommend trying the following: Kinetic Sand is sensitive to humidity and water, if it loses its great texture, it may be due to the environment being too "moist" or "dry". If Kinetic Sand gets wet, air dry it until it returns to its normal texture. If Kinetic Sand is too dry, add a few drops of water using an eyedropper and mix thoroughly. This did not work well at all. Could not get it to look anywhere even close to the pictures. We have a lot of Kinetic Sand toys as well as playdoh and playdoh held up better in this but these cones were frustrating for all of us. I’d skip this one.

Dispenser doesnt work
The soft serve dispenser does not produce ice cream swirls as depicted in pictures. The Station also lacked quality control as there were pieces that were not removed to attach the top to the base. However, My 4 year old son loves it regardless. The kinetic sand is great, he’s been playing and making ice cream cones with his hands for about 40 min and still playing. It’s good for imagination play and we had fun making cones even thought the dispenser doesn’t produce a nice formed swirl like the pictures on the packaging. Honestly it’s not worth more than $5.00. Should be sold at the dollar store

Great addition, slightly misleading
This is a fun addition to our kinetic sand collection that does keep my son entertained. A few misleading things just to be aware of, first the 'sprinkle' grater doesn't really work well because....it's sand. It makes sense in hindsight, but the pictures on the box are misleading. Second, if you make the big ice cream cone as shown in the picture, the opening is just slightly too narrow for the ice cream cone to slide out full. That might be intentional to help the 'ice cream' bulge out a bit like a real ice cream cone, hard to say. Again, the kit is very entertaining but wanted to point those things out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The kinetic sand soft serve station is a perfect sensory toy for kids who love imaginative play. My 4yr old and 6yr old happily played together for an hour to test this toy out! Two thumbs up from both of them! My kids really loved that you can mix colors together to make either squirly soft serve, or use the scoop to pile up a cone. They really enjoyed being able to "grate" the sprinkles on top of the icecream too. What I love is that it is easy to set up, they can play independently, and use their imagination to create whatever they desire. The best part is that it's a quick and simple cleanup and everything fits easily back in the original box for easy storage. Great toy for ice cream lovers!
My 5 and 7 year old sons love this Kinetic Sand ice cream making set. It’s great for the imagination and allows the brothers to bond through play. It can be messy if they step on the sand and bring it all over the house but it’s worth it as they have a lot of fun!

What can I say? Mix the idea of ice cream, which is a win anytime of the year, with Kinetic Sand and you have a winner! My kids loved playing with this set. Kinetic Sand is a great sensory toy as well on its own so regardless of whether they want to bring out the whole set to play with or just the sand, they will always have fun with it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I got this kinetic sand set from Butterly to try out I gave it to my 7 year old grand daughter to play with while I got Christmas Eve dinner ready. She had played with kinetic sand at school before so she was really excited. I wasn’t sure how long she’d stay engaged with the set, but she wound up playing for over an hour mixing colours and making “treats” for everyone in the house! It reminded me of play dough but what I found really great was the cleanup. We did miss a few pieces of the sand, but unlike play dough that gets kind of sticky, it was easy to sweep up any we missed. It was nice to see the little lady use her imagination & she was all smiles while she played with it.
