submitted byChris - 1 month agoA: If you are Gen Y or Z you may only know LEDs.. Old-fashioned true light emitting from a glass bulb filament will produce heat. Clip it so bulb doesn't touch anything and turn off when sleeping.

Beautiful lights, ignore the illogical reviews.
GREAT LIGHTS! A lot of bad reviews saying ALL burnt out at once, they are also saying they put more than the allowed 4 together. Duh it’s going to blow the fuse. I have atleast 10 sets of these, only one bulb has gone out, 4 of those sets have been on almost 24-7 this entire month. Yes they get warm but completely expected, i can unscrew a bulb thats been on for hours so it’s not like it’s that hot, 90% of those 4 sets that have been on all month are resting against plastic siding and trim without issue. Paint is a little fragile on some of the bulbs but again thats expected.

These lights work just like they did in the 80's
These lights are super nostalgic and beautiful. Yes, they are warmer than LED, but always have been and are totally safe. We have had them up for a month and a half and had zero issues and zero bulbs blow out.

these are the most dangerous lights ive ever seen!! not only did 7 of them burn out over night(the 1st night up) but I burned my finger trying to take them down to return once I realized what happened!! they say indoor/outdoor these lights are going to cause a house to burn down they get THAT hot!!

Sadly not durable
The lights are really cute first out of the box. I understood that since they’re incandescent they would get hot, and that’s fine. My issue is that the paint chips off very easily, even with extreme care, and 3 lights have already blown out after being up on the house for only 2 weeks. In theory, they’re the perfect vintage multicolor bulbs. Just wish they were more durable!

Hot lights, stopped working after one week
I bought 5 boxes of these. I love the "fat" C9 lights. Right away, I was put off by the fact you had to individually screw each bulb into the outlet. FIVE BOXES OF THIS. Then, the lights felt hot to the touch, and the overall effect on the tree was not multi colored, but more of an orange-dominated cast. Then, after one week, the lights stop working. Going to another store and buying LED C9s. These are NOT at all worth it. Save the hassle.
