This knife is beautiful to behold. Pitted design makes it look professional and a conversational piece in the kitchen when your cutting up hunks of meat or slicing slabs of steaks. Excellent feel and cuts through meat like butter. Vegetable use I have not tried, since I'm using this knife specifically for carnivore delicacies. I don't expect to be sharpening this knife a whole lot because it is very sharp. When I do, I will need to find a professional Japanese knife maker or learn how to use a wetting stone and get the perfect angel to sharpen this knife of beauty.

This is an absolutely gorgeous knife. The design on the blade looks great, and also reduces friction and helps prevent food from sticking to the blade. I am a just a home cook, so I am not not terribly picky about my equipment, but I definitely feel the difference between this and the knives from my basic set. The handle is comfortable and the whole blade is well balanced. I absolutely love using this knife. It came in a nice box with a magnetic closure. There is a small plastic guard for the tip that fits on the knife when it is in the box, to help preserve at that vulnerable spot. Great to use, great as a gift, just a great blade overall.

This Nakiri knife by Imarku is a great knife! It is beautifully crafted, with full tang design and gorgeous pakkawood handle that looks great and is the perfect shape for my hands. It comes is a beautiful presentation box and it would make a wonderful gift. They do recommend only hand-washing this knife and I echo that, both to preserve the knife's sharpness but also to preserve that beautiful handle. The 7" blade is wonderfully sharp and the textured roughness of the upper blade surface keeps food from sticking to it as you slice. The blade is heavy but not unwieldy, and makes it easy to cut through tough meat or even small bones without trouble. Like I said, this is my new favorite knife!

This chef knife really performs. I am able to slice, chop, cleave and shave food with this knife. The blade is very sharp and resilient. The handle lends itself to a variety of holds. I am accustomed to using a traditional 8-inch chef knife on a daily basis, but this is the first time I have done the same work with a cleaver style chef knife. I can highly recommend this knife for any food prep. The knife comes with a one year warranty. The company seems to be vested in producing quality products. I will mention that I was disappointed that the knife did not include any type of full blade guard. There was only a plastic tip guard that covered about 1/4 inch of the blade point. I think a polymer blade guard or at least a cardboard slip should have been included.

Got this knife because I'm a fan of Japanese knives, and wanted to try out a Nakiri one. Traditionally, Nakiri knives are used for vegetables, and that is all I've used it for so far. This does a great job cutting through carrots, zucchini, garlic, celery, and other small things. It would likely also do well on ginger. I do find it a little bit hard to get used to the correct motion for this knife, as you're supposed to move up and down, rather than pivoting on the tip, but once you figure it out, it's quite pleasant. One of the things that aides in this motion is the great balance of the knife. Unlike the 8" chef's knives that I usually use for all universal cutting, this Nakiri blade is balanced really well across the handle and the blade, so you don't find the front of the knife pulling your hand down in an uncomfortable fashion. The length of this blade is pretty average, so it can struggle with longer carrots or vegetables, but that's not really the main point of it, in my opinion. The handle is quite comfortable to hold for my average sized hands, and using a chefs grip on the base of the blade is quite nice. Overall, this knife is nice to use, time will tell how well the blade lasts, but that depends a lot on how much you care for it. I always wash my knives and immediately dry them, and I intend to do the same for this one. If I had to complain about anything else, its that I wish the blade was a bit more slim, as when cutting small stuff like garlic or ginger, it can feel quite wide and makes it hard to place. It comes quite sharp out of the box as well, so that's great. I've not bought any imarku knives before, but I have some of their cast iron pans and those are great, so I have high hopes for the longevity of this knife!

This is one of the nicest knives I've ever owned. The balance is perfect. The handle is beautiful and easy to hold. The wood is gorgeous. This blade is so sharp, you better respect it at all times. I cut through a plum just to see how sharp it is, and it melted straight through without much pressure. This will be perfect for those who cook meat and vegetables. We cook almost all of our meals from scratch, and this is the knife weave needed our entire life. We initially got this as a gift, but decided to keep it for ourselves. We highly recommend this knife.

This is a beautiful knife that works great. The knife has some heft, weighing a bit over 9 ounces, and the balance point is very much ahead of the handle. The wooden handle has a slight taper that helps with a normal grip, but it's also narrow enough to hold with the back of the hand while pinching the blade. This pinch grip works great when doing finer stuff. Also, I like that the blade is mostly flat over the first half, and then just a slight curve over the later half. This makes for a great combo for both chopping and slicing. The blade is around 2.5mm thick and this same thickness is carried to the far end of the blade. There's nothing to note about the type of steel - nothing is printed on the blade or the manual. Unlike many Japanese knives, the manual says to use a 20-25 degree angle when sharpening. The label say that it's made is made in China. The blade holds an edge well and is somewhat magnetic, so I'd guess it's some sort of stainless steel. The blade arrives very sharp and the box is suitable for a gift.
