Q: Does this have temperature control? Do it also have the standard plug in to use a battery generator?
submitted by Tay - 5 months ago
A: Hello, there is not a temperature control on the 40qt iceless. The unit cools the interior to 38℉ below ambient temperature. There is an outlet for AC power but it is not included and can be purchased separately, the unit comes with the 12V power cable. Igloo Customer Service Team.

Struggles to cool in warm environments, and most irritating of all, no 120v AC adapter. My truck has no cigarette lighter outlets which makes this cooler completely useless. It will be going back to seller...

Works well for a number of years
I bought one of these years ago (4-5) for my 18 wheeler. The fan is beginning to not work so well leaving items a tad more warm than they should be, so I have bought a new replacement cooler as the fans are not able to be replaced. I like how long it lasts for my needs and it is certainly better than the Coleman iceless cooler.

Weak handle attachments
We got this cooler six months ago and used it about 4 times. On the last use one of the handles broke off and it does not seem to be repairable

As far as the cooler outstanding
I bought this cooler now for about 6 months enjoying it only I believe that the handles are made a little cheaply cuz every time I go to grab it I'm popping handles I have the handles glued to the cooler so I can pick it up the cooler works great ,, I have about 60-year products at home and they work when they break I fix them I even changed the electronic cooling ship with the thermal grease and they keep taking a look

Not impressed with product
We bought this cooler to use traveling in the car. Unfortunately there is no power when the car is not running. We decided to use in the house. Ordered the converter for 12 volt adaptor, this part is extremely hot to touch. I was concerned about it catching on fire. I would not recommend especially unattended.

Love it
Love it. Took a trip across country and it did exactly what it was suppose to do. I bought the power cord adapter and it gets hot but did not concern me.

Still running after all these years
I have had this cooler for at least 10 years and it has never failed. I have to replace the power cord again and one of the plastic hinges broke the other day(disappointed that I could not find exact replacement)but I replaced it with a fits all igloo hinge. Great cooler for road trips and I keep it as secondary cooler when RV-ing.

Buyer Beware
I like the ice less cooler but Igloo did not send the 115vac adapter with it. There advertising is deceptive.

Cool, quiet
Working really great. Keeps items really cool even in the heat. If you want to extend the life of your cooler cut the 12v socket off and install a five amp house breaker inline on the positive feed. My last cooler lasted five years versus a year or two using the twelve volt socket.

40 Qt Igloo electric cooler purchase Sept 2022
So far we like the cooler. Replacing the one we bought over 25 years ago. Hoping this one will be just as reliable. Disappointed though, we thought we would get an AC adapter with it. What good is the cooler with only the car adapter?

Dependable
I've had this cooler in an earlier model, Kool Mate 40, for more than 20 years. Right now we're using it to "survive" until our new refrigerator arrives. Glad we still have this thing. My only complaint is that the hinges have failed and no similar ones appear in Igloo's spare parts list. The hinge screws pulled out which likely led to the hinge failure.

No more cleaning out melted ice ! : )
Awesome for large boats. Keeps to 35 degrees colder than the outside temp, I boost it it on extremely hot days with a small Igloo ice pack. I have two of these and it saves so much time and energy. Best when kept out of direct sunlight.

Too small
Unit is too small. Bottle of juice can't even stand up in it. And it only came with a car lighter plug, no AC cord was with it. Had to make a special trip to store to buy converter.

Beat on the market
I've had my electric cooler for over 20 years, and it has never disappointed. I didn't realize how good it is until I got 2 coolers of another brand. Not only are the cords not interchangeable(permanently attached), I had to buy the electric cord myself. Now I have to splice a new outlet plug. My igloo still works fine.
