Love the convenience of removable grill plates. So easy to clean!

After 30 years of good and faithful service, my old Sunbeam grill finally gave out. And so, I was excited to have the chance to finally get a George Foreman grill, after hearing so much of the advertising and hype. Unfortunately, for this model at least, it’s fallen far short of what I was led to expect, and I’m having severe buyer’s remorse for the reasons stated below, among others. 1) The angle of the grill plates is too severe. I realize that the angle is designed to allow fat to fully drip away from steaks, burgers, etc. which the grill is actually designed for. But I don’t usually grill steak and burgers, and with that steep angle, it’s impossible to grill hot dogs, sausages or anything else “cylindrical” without them rolling down to the bottom/front of the grill plates. I’ve tried turning them vertically and laying them between the ridges of the bottom plate, but then they don’t get those nice grill marks and it reduces the contact of the hot plates with the food, causing them to take longer to grill, and looking relatively pale and undercooked at the finish. Plus, even the burgers and paninis I’ve grilled have a tendency to slide down – and the sandwiches often get squished and lopsided because of it. 2) Related to #1, There are no extendable front feet to make it level. I’ve had to resort to putting a short 1-1/4” thick board under the feet to level it up, a very ugly, ridiculous solution. 3) Cannot open it up flat to use as a regular griddle. I knew that before I bought it, but I didn’t realize how much I would miss that feature when I didn’t have it. 4) No temperature control (plugged in/full blast, unplugged/off). There’s no ability to turn down the temperature to merely keep things warm. Yes, I can unplug it and get roughly the same effect. But why should I need to do that? For the price, the manufacturers could have easily included a temperature control. 5) Cannot store it upright, on its end. It must be stored flat, which takes up more than of its share of “footprint” in the cabinet and crowds all the other small appliances I have stored there. The only good thing (and the main reason I bought it) is the removable grill plates which allows them to be thoroughly hand-washed or put in the dishwasher. Overall, a very poorly designed product, especially for the price. You’re essentially paying for the George Foreman “name,” not for the quality and utility of the product. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. I thought about giving it two stars, just for the removable grill plates – but then I thought, “nah, not worth it.” There must be other brands, or even other George Foreman models, with better features and functionality. And as soon as I find one, this one’s going to Goodwill.

So far, I love this little gill. I just received it last week and I’ve used it every day. I love the fact that the greats are removable makes it so easy to clean.

Finally - a grill with removable grill plates. We have had a George Foreman grill for years and while it cooked a variety of foods GREAT it was a pain to clean the grill plates without immersing the unit or getting water in the base. Each time we used it either my husband or I would say, "if only the grill plates came off to be washed separately" and NOW THEY DO. Thank you for this much needed improvement. We used our new purchase for the first time this evening and it was a breeze to clean up afterwards.

we grilled burgers and they turned out just perfect….this grill is super easy to clean and maintain..I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to make burgers quickly and deliciously… I only gave 4 stars because the grill is smaller than described, but it works for us because it’s just 2 of us

I BOUGHT THIS GRILL TODAY. THIS IS MY SECOND ONE OVER THE YEARS. I WOULD BUY IT AGAIN. VERY EASY TO CLEAN.

I purchased the grill this month and love it. So much easier than lugging around and cleaning a cast iron grill pan.

I tried my George Foreman grill for the first time and love it! I grilled a vegan beyond burger pattie and it came out perfect! When I tried to make it on a regular grill according to directions it came out raw. I can’t wait to use it again !

My 1st GF grill was 10 years old so I purchased a new one. I love the removable plates, clean up is so easy. My steak turned out great, too!

We have used four times so far absolutely love it. It’s so easy makes making dinner easy, guick and delicious. I would recommend this products for sure .

This is a little gem, I’m replacing my old one which was still working by the way after 4 years with no issues., but I gave it away and then found I couldn’t live without it, so I’m replacing it .

It’s ok, it doesn’t lock when you close it, to put away standing up for storage

I only have used this panini grill twice so far but both times it produced very delicious panini sandwiches. The only thing that I might change and correct me if I am wrong I would have an on / off witch instead of having to plug it in and out every use. Otherwise worth the value and more with every sandwich.
