Book Synopsis
A whimsical coloring book for fairy and garden lovers, featuring vintage flower fairy art from the golden age of illustration.
Fairies and their wonderful magical worlds were a favourite subject for artists from the mid-19th century to the early decades of the 20th. Some are childlike and whimsical, others more like beautiful maidens. The fairies in this coloring book are linked by their representation as garden or flower fairies. Some are seen dressed in clothing that resembles that of the flower they are named for; others are seen on the stems or within the petals of flowers or interacting with garden creatures such as bumble bees, caterpillars and butterflies. The artwork comes from a range of fairy artists including René Cloke, Margaret Tarrant, Molly Brett, Constance Symonds, Wilhelm and Jean Ignace Grandville. Choose a garden setting if you can, a selection of suitably hued pencils or markers and while away the hours making a delightful fairy world.
