AMAZING READ!
Absolutely LOVED this book. It is not inappropriate as some other reviewers have suggested. It is a interesting and amazing story for any Percy Jackson lovers. The themes and overall payoff for the characters themselves are beautiful and overall very heartwarming. It is perfect for all ages who like the Percy Jackson books.

Truly Exceptional
It's such an amazing book. I always loved Nico and wanted more of him, and now I get it with Will. They are such an awesome couple. I can't wait to see more of them.

Inappropriate for middle age children
Inappropriate material for the 8-13 year old section. This book is placed at eye level for grade school children and addresses more adult themes. Shame on target.

Nico and Will's adventures
This book was phenomenal. I’ve always been a huge Percy Jackson fan (I read the books my freshman year of high school, which was 2009-2010), and I’ve loved every series/spin-off since then. Admittedly, I *just* read the last two books in the Trials of Apollo series, but that was because I thought it was going to be a trilogy and an event happened in the third book that I did not appreciate so much, but once I got over that and read the last two, I was fully back on board the love train. Anything in the Greek/Roman demigod series is something I will read and love and reread over and over. The Sun and the Star is completely focused on Nico de Angelo, son of Hades, and his boyfriend Will Solace, son of Apollo. Nico has been one of my favorite non-main characters since his first appearance in The Titan’s Curse, and he’s just gotten better and better throughout the books. Will also popped up in the last book of the original series, but never really as someone important important, more as just one of Apollo’s gazillion kids. He got more important in the Heroes of Olympus books, and then super important (with Nico) in the Trials of Apollo books. Will and Nico are both young demigods (fifteen and sixteen, I think), and they go through tons of challenges together. Nico has faced so much horrendous death in his life, not even counting the seventy years he lost in the lotus casino. Will has also lost people, but nowhere near the extent as Nico. I loved getting to watch Nico and Will together (and separately) throughout the course of this book, and I liked that it was told half in flashbacks and half in “real” time. It brought up things I hadn’t ever thought about (like how it was straight up illegal to be gay in Italy in the 1930s/1940s when Nico was a kid and lived there), and also definitely put Hades (God and place) in a much better light, which as a huge Hades/Persephone fan, I appreciated. I also super enjoyed that there was no cliffhanger ending to this book. It definitely wasn’t a stand alone (you DEFINITELY need to read all three series first), but it didn’t leave you waiting for the next book. I’m not sure if this was meant to be a one-off or if Nico and Will may be getting more books, but I’m happy with this either way. Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves the Percy Jackson books, Greek mythology, adventures, or basically enjoying a book at all. 10/10.
