Fjallraven Kanken Backpack 16L - Black Ox Red

15 years of use and I've finally retired the bag. HOLDS SO MUCH. Macbook Air 13" check. It literally holds * litre boxes of milk, I kid you not. Used them on my grocery runs all the time and hop on my bike. Use as backpack for travel in addition to carry-on, and you're set. Groceries, impromptu buys, fits it all. I've washed it so many times, the fabric softens, after all these years finally developed a couple of tiny holes where the fabric creases but doesn't affect functionality at all. Can't say enough about these Kanken bags. I've finally bought a replacement(s) in several different colours. But keeping this one as an everyday gym bag, throw in sneakers, towel, etc. Such a great backpack. Can't recommend enough.

I have purchased 5 of these backpacks over the years for 5 of my nieces and nephews who live in a remote location in a developing country across the world. These bags have endured 5 international journeys and countless flights/trips into the jungle, as well as the rough hands of children, ages 6 and under. They are the perfect size for young kids to wear, but also to place their needed and treasured items in for easy and independent access during long trips. My brother and his wife love the responsibility and freedom it allows their kids during their travels. But ultimately, the backpacks hold up so nicely. They aren't falling apart, they don't retain dirt, and they have been exposed to all sorts of weather and rough conditions. They will continue to be used until outgrown, then passed down to other cousins or even generations. I could not recommend this more.

My wife received one as a gift. The straps are nothing like the photos. No smaller strap near the bottom for securing excess strap and no d-ring near the top for attaching their strap pad add ons. Will come back to edit review if the bag holds up or not. She received it as a gift from friends who have had their minis for a very long time so we will be able to compare them next time we see them. As of now though, seems like they are cheaping out on materials for their bags which is unfortunate.

I bought the classic Kånken in Foliage Green, and I absolutely love it. The colour is beautiful — subtle but still stands out. It fits my iPad Air, planner, Kånken Pen Case (the sturdy one), and a Gear Bag perfectly. All my essentials fit neatly inside, with just enough space to close comfortably. I’ve been using it for over a year now, mostly for sightseeing around the city, and it’s been incredibly practical. I’ve even joked that it looks a bit like a purse — even though I’m a man — but honestly, I don’t mind at all. It’s just that convenient and comfortable to carry. In the front pocket, I like to keep my card wallet and keys for easy access. I also added a red Kånken keyring as a little charm on the small pocket zip, which gives it a nice personal touch. It’s sturdy, practical, and just the right size for everyday use.

I bought the classic Kånken in navy, and I’m really pleased with it. It doesn’t have a dedicated laptop compartment, so I slip my laptop into a protective sleeve first, and it fits nicely inside the main section. It’s sturdy, well-made, and the colour is exactly as pictured. I clean it from time to time with a wet rag, and lukewarm water. I’ve used it as one of my daily bags for more than two years, and even taken it travelling — it handles everything I throw in there (13" M2 MacBook in its sleeve, tablet, notebooks, bits and bobs) with no trouble. I’m aware it’s not recommended to carry a laptop due to the added weight, but it’s worked perfectly fine for me so far. The front pocket and side pockets are great for easy access to smaller items. Overall, it’s a dependable and stylish backpack that lives up to the Kånken name.

I bought this and used it for less than a Year and it lasted 6 months and got so dirty very disappointing I would not buy this again it did not wash off raven though I gave it to a dry cleaner

I loved kanken for years. They are so durable and so beautiful. Worth the money.

Bought last year for my son’s PreK class. The inside liner is completed shredded and falling apart. I have two other back packs that I purchased for my daughters 3 years ago and they are still in good shape. I think the quality has gone down.

The backpacks come in beautiful colors, but they tend to fade and develop white marks over time. The one that holds up best is the black one.

Waste of money I bought the backpack on Monday and after 1 wash backpack became so stiff and color start fading . Now it looks horrible

Die Tasche an sich ist super schön doch leider ist die Qualität des Stoffs nicht gut. Nach einigen Tagen reibt die Farbe leicht ab und ich finde innen könnte auch eine kleine Tasche zum verstauen sein. Ich habe mehr als 140€ für den individuellen Rucksack bezahlt und finde dafür ist er es nicht wert.

I bought the peach pink and it is red - there's nothing pink about it. I am worried about the longevity of the colour as well, as there's already visible fading along any folds or edges of the bag right out of the package.

I like everythink on your design but I can’t decide which model is right for me. I need a medium size but at the same time has to be elegant . I want to use it for work therefore the backpack has to be comfortable and elegant bag .

Mine is 6 years old now and probably needs to be replaced but for Co text I use it EVERY day. It’s been a work bag, a day trip bag, laptop bag, nappy change bag, everything bag. The best purchase ever

I have been gifted this backpack a few years ago, and used it VERY lightly. As I picked it un a feb days ago, I have seen that one of the shoulder straps is detaching from the base of the backpack. And I do not mean the actual strap, I mean the angle-y part Made of the same material of the rest of the body… a bit upset

great little bag, stylish, fits a lot more than expected. i fell into a creek on a hike and nothing in my bag got wet and i had my powerbank in there so thats a plus !! however it stains sooooo easily, i have the peach colour and its basically grey now, partly from my coat and partly from the london underground. tried to clean it but its hardly budging. i recommend getting a darker colour.

I bought a Kankan backpack for my daughter ten years that has lasted all this time. I bought myself one about two years ago and they are not the same quality. The zipper broke on my backpack within just a year! I took it in to get fixed, but it broke again after just a few months. I took it in a second time to be fixed and it broke AGAIN. What a huge disappointment. The quality has gone way down. I would not buy another bag from this company. I’ve recommended this company to many people and now I regret it.

I purchased the "Design your own" Kanken. I am thoroughly satisfied! The colors are rich and I'm pleased with the accuracy of the pigments compared to the image online. The material is thick and not cheaply made at all. This backpack packs a good amount for my day hikes and weekend urban exploration and museum hopping. Love my Kanken :D
