Book Synopsis

Vega is ten years old and lives in Giraffön with Dad. Vega's life is quite unusual: he sees things that no one else sees, including imaginary animals. A grizzly bear with foamy shampoo in his fur lives in the bathroom, and on the school path he meets both the asphalt beaver Atle and the zebra Zacharias. Vega has never met his mother, and when he asks Dad and Grandpa Hektor questions, they answer with riddles. While Dad has a girlfriend, Vega gets an unexpected pen pal and embarks on an adventure to find his mother. This book is a magical realism about the longing for a family and to be seen and loved.

About the Author

Sofia Chanfreau nació en Helsinki en 1986, creció en Å land y se estableció en Malmö, Suecia. Asistió a la Fö rfattarskolan de Lund en 2010-2012, pero luego se centró en los estudios de mú sica y tecnologí a del sonido en la Academia de Mú sica de Malmö y en el Musicians Institute de Los Á ngeles. Actualmente trabaja en una productora y escribe guiones y mú sica a diario, ademÁ s de sonorizar y mezclar audio tours. Amanda es tatuadora e ilustradora. Se educó en artes visuales, arte textil y tatuajes en Suecia. Nació en Helsinki, creció en Å land y vive en Malmö . Fue galardonada con el Premio Finlandia de literatura infantil y juvenil 2022 por El Corazó n de la Jirafa es Inusualmente Grande, fue nominada al Premio Junior Runeberg y al Premio de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil del Consejo Nó rdico 2023.
