Macrobiotic Dashi Soup Stock
Great to use as a soup stock, a little goes a long way. Just one inch piece is sufficient, it will expand in water to seven times.

Good value
I use the Kombu when I cook beans, grains or soups by adding a small piece. I use it to provide extra minerals. Kombu is difficult to find locally. Swanson provides the product at an excellent price.

Kombu has a more complex flavor ..
I only discovered kombu a couple of months ago. I'm going to tell you now this may not be for everyone, it has a really complex taste that dwarfs wakame ( which I adore). If you really like seaweed this is definitely something you should try. If this is your first outing with seaweed products - go for the wakame and work up to this. I use it in vegetable soup in place of salt and I steam it with salmon - gives it a fresh out of the ocean taste that is out of this world. I am so glad I was turned onto kombu by the local Japanese restaurant. Eden knows seaweed- I've tried a lot of brands and always come back to Eden. Highly recommend.

Great Soup Addition
I've been using this product in soups & stews for years. I don't add salt to anything so this adds flavor & seasoning without salt. Seems to help take the gas out of bean products & tenderizes them. I use about 1/2 a strip, cutting it into tiny pieces with scissors into the pot at the beginning of the cooking period.

Kombu is my favorite seaweed.
Each kind of seaweed has a unique taste. Kombu is a deep, soulful seaweed, and improves the taste of any cooked food - I use seaweed instead of salt in a recipe. This is a great brand, too.

seaweed stuff
i go through a ton of kombu. use it for all types of dishes. this product is decent. have had better and have had significantly worse products. this is a good price, often times much lower than a specialty food store. as this product comes from Japan, i hope there isnt a radiation issue

Expensive Packing Peanuts
These were basically cornstarch IIRC. They tasted awful and I ended up throwing them away...and I'm not even picky.
