Not another princess book.
Gonna give it a try. Im getting annoyed with the perfect princess vibe. Let's see what could have happened in anothers eyes.

Great book
This is a great team/young adult novel… But as a woman in her 30s I absolutely love it as well growing up on the Disney movies

Too close to the original plot
I was drawn in by the gorgeous cover, and the fact that I really enjoyed the Frozen movies. This was just basically a novelization of the first movie plot under slightly different circumstances. I guess I was expecting many more changes with it being a "twisted" tale. Also of note: While it is classified as YA, it is written with the vocabulary, themes, and structure of a middle grade book. That's not a problem in and of itself. I've read and enjoyed many middle grade books that I thought were fantastic! This is not those. Save yourself the time and just watch the movie again, because then at least you can sing along with the fun songs!

Good if you aren't picky
I've got to say I kind of hated reading this. There were many points I wanted to quit reading and not even find out what happens at the end. My biggest complaint is it feels like clues are revealed too conveniently and while yes, magic exists in their universe, the mystery bit is ruined when Anna and Elsa just "get a feeling" they need to be a specific somewhere and do a specific something, or suddenly remember an erased memory from their childhood. There are very few physical clues to advance the plot. There are also many lines and scenes taken directly from the film, most of which seemed forced and awkward. Some main characters flip between personalities and change their minds spontaneously just to advance the plot. Lastly, I feel like the pace of the book was awkward, like explaining things after the fact, and summarizing major scenes undramatically as if this were a 20-page book for 6-year-olds. The good things: Not the worst writing style I've read--there's variety in the sentence structure and such. Some of lines and scenes from the film were not awkward and actally very interesting to experience in an alternate time line. Some supporting characters are developed more than they were in the film, such as Hans and the Duke of Weselton. Even Kai, Gerda, Olina, and Lord Petersson have more major roles despite being buried in the lore of films. Especially interesting was the new character Freya. Overall it was OK. If you aren't picky about your books you'll probably love this alternate telling of the beloved Frozen, but I would definitely recommend some other Frozen books before this one.

Loved my first TT by Jen!
Frozen + Twisted Tale (why, yes, I AM Captain Obvious today) My synopsis for this one will be shorter than usual. Take what you know about Frozen. Only this time Anna had to go away after THAT fateful night. And nobody except Elsa and Anna’s parents know. And we all know what happens to THEM! Look, I’m old. I prefer Alice in Wonderland, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and all the classic Disney movies. Anything past Toy Story or Bug’s Life and I probably haven’t seen it. But I have nephews and have been dragged to movies. Frozen (and Zootopia) are the two I have liked. And that durn “Let it Go” is SO catchy! I really enjoy the Twisted Tale series as a lover of retellings! This is my first one by Jen, and I feel she was phenomenal in keeping true to what the original characters were about. She also was amazing at character-building, as I loathed the villains here far more than I did originally! Looking forward to reading her other TTs and Fairy Tale Reform School series! Buy this for yourself or any other retelling fanatics! And if you’re twisted—well, perfect!

My 11 year old is obsessed with the series, It’s definitely an interesting concept to rewrite the stories the children have come to know and love.

Couldn't Put It Down
If you're a fan of Frozen, this is a must read. I prefer some of the others in the series to this story, just because of some of the one liners, but it's a great read. Oh, and I'm 27.
