About the Author

Gastón Acurio nació en Lima en 1967. Es el más importante promotor de la gastronomía peruana a través de treinta cuatro restaurantes ubicados en once países donde desarrolla diferentes especialidades culinarias. Fue uno de los creadores de la Feria Gastronómica de Lima llamada Mistura, que en poco tiempo se ha convertido en una de las tres más importantes del mundo. Ha recibido los Premios "Empresario del Año" en el 2005 por la revista América Economía. También ha sido considerado en el 2010 por Unicef como «Embajador de Buena Voluntad». En el 2011 fue elegido como uno de los veinte cocineros más influyentes del mundo en la feria Madrid Fusión. Ha recibido en Estocolmo, de manos del príncipe Carlos Felipe, el premio Global Gastronomy 2013. Ese mismo año recibió en Italia el Premio Antica Corte Pallavicina y el Lifetime Achievement del Latin America´s 50 Best Restaurants. Su restaurante Astrid & Gastón se mantiene desde los últimos años en la lista de World´s 50 Best Restaurants.
