Q: Is the velvet fabric (100%) cotton pre-shrunk? Should I expect shrinkage with the first washing?

  • A: Yes, it shrinks. First time I washed and dried it, it shrunk. It was dried on low heat. Still beautiful and I make it work but I am definitely a bit disappointed that it shrunk so much - several inches on the side.

I don't recommend

After just one wash, the back of the comforter started developing small fuzzies/lint balls. The material feels cheap and did not hold up as expected. I followed the care instructions, but the fabric already looks worn. Would not recommend due to poor quality. I wish I could get my money back

Posh Quilt

This quilt is gorgeous. Don't hesitate to buy it in any of these great colors. First I bought the green, but the shade just didn't work in my particular space. It's very nice, though, if you want a rich green color. I bought the cream instead, and it's a gorgeous, rich off white. I washed and dried it before using, and there's no visible shrinkage even though the outer fabric is cotton. It looks the same as more expansive products I've seen online. I bought a king size for my queen bed, because I wanted it to touch the ground.

Cozy but it faded

It faded, a lot, in the light. I used for about a year It faded a lot and now the color is an ugly yellowish green on the sunbleached areas which is most of the comforter at this point. It was near a window in a bright room with light filtering curtains. Otherwise it washed ok for me and was super cozy so maybe just best for a lower light room.

Beautifil and durable

I have owned this quilt for almost 2 years and even with big dogs sleeping on it every night there are zero rips or tears. This is truly one of the most durable blankets I’ve ever used. It’s soft, it washes up well and it’s warm without being too bulky. Combine it’s a durability with the fact that it’s beautiful and it’s a 10/10

Well Priced Cotton Velvet

I love this well priced quilt and have bought several. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is that it fades if exposed to direct sunlight. Not extremely noticeable on mine (natural color), but I imagine it would be in the darker colors. Be careful if drying on a clothesline in sunlight. It has a nice matte finish, not shiny like the synthetic velvets. I have a 14” high king mattress and it comes down on the sides exactly to the bed frame. If you have a deeper mattress there would be a gap. Also holds up well to my small dog digging his “nest” on it before bed!
