Q: Does this detergent leave any odor?

A: Yes, it does. It took me about 40 of the 55 loads in the bottle to figure out how to use just enough to clean the dishes and not being left with too much of the fake lemon scent. (It shouldn't be called free & clear, which typically denotes free from scents.)

Q: How many loads can one get out of a bottle? How many oz used per load?

A: We have soft city water and only run full loads. Got 55 loads out of it. It was extremely difficult to dose in a way that cleaned the dishes without leaving a disgusting, fake lemon scent. (I bought this not realizing that 'free & clear' did NOT mean no scent, unlike with pretty much every other product out there.)

As an approximate average, consumers may use 62.5 mL of gel per load.

A: Our apologies for any confusion. This is formulated with biobased and other thoughtfully selected ingredients. It's our only dye-free liquid, no phosphates & no chlorine bleach. The perfume is infused with essential oils.

A: Pour the powder or gel directly into the dishwasher’s dispenser (check the dishwasher’s instructions for details how to use the dispenser). If your dishwasher has 2 dispensing cups, fill both. If you live in an area with very soft water, fill the dispenser halfway. If your dishwasher has 2 dispensing cups, fill both half full.

A: All Cascade products have been thoroughly evaluated to use in homes with septic tanks. As long as you follow the recommended amounts as directed, they will not damage your plumbing system with a properly functioning septic tank. This includes aerated systems, aerobic systems, and non-aerobic systems.

Deceptive Name: Reeks of chemical fragrance!
Labelling this "Free & Clear" is a deceptive practice- a reasonable consumer would presume it is not fragaranced, maybe it just has a little natural lemon in it. Not so: it REEKS. Everytime I unload the dishwaher I am nauseated (in spite of usling the smallest amount possible), and it has imbued my silicone kitchenware with it's overpowering scent. I hate it, and I am angry at Cascade.

Review is about the delivery. Item was delivered to the driveway despite two signs clearly saying don't leave packages here, take them to the front door. Driver appears to have seen the signs because both signs were blurred out (tampered with) in his delivery photo. Actual picture taken at night shows both signs clearly visible.

To remove the scent from dishes, fill both detergent cups with white vinegar. Then, REMOVE ALL METAL ITEMS from the dishwasher. (Vinegar is too acidic for metal items, but is safe for stainless steel dishwasher interiors.) Run one wash cycle without adding any detergent. To ensure there's not a scent left behind, we recommend making sure the dishwasher sprayer arms to make sure they are not clogged, to ensure the dishwasher is rinsing properly. It works well, but it still leaves silicone dishes smelling (and tasting) like soap. Why would someone possibly want their dishes to smell like fragrance? I would love if this truly went ‘free & clean’ and dropped the fragrance.

So glad Cascade came out with Free & Clear
I have always liked the way the traditional fragranced Cascade cleaned my dishes, but over time I refrained from using it because its perfume would leave a scent and taste on my silicone tools. I found organic products just did not clean as well and was thrilled to see Cascade has joined the fragrance-free bandwagon. I am very happy that I can now get the same sparkly clean result with Cascade Free & Clear without the heavier fragrance of the traditional Cascade.

This stuff is not good. I bought it a year ago and still have it, if that tells you anything. I wish I would have remembered to return it before the window expired. It leaves a yucky, visible film on all of the dishes. I used it the way I was supposed to- according to the instructions. It is not good. Would not recommend.

It can fight against the detergent to allow minerals and food particles to settle back on dishes, which results in a film. To get the best results, be sure your water is at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit/49 degrees Celsius. Also, when loading the machine, be sure all items will get the full spray and that your spray arms aren’t blocked.
