Black & Decker BEMW482BH 120V 12 Amp Brushed 17 in. Corded Lawn Mower with Comfort Grip Handle

I have had 2 B/D MM875 mowers. 19 inch mulching. When the last one died and the broken but crucial part was no longer available I had to replace it. Since I had great luck with my 2 previous mowers, I went looking for another B/D mower. What I learned after receiving the mower is that it is incapable of mulching. On the older mowers all you had to do was remove the bag and chute, and you were mulching. I will not bag my clippings, so I have removed the bag and sealed the door shut. But since it has a flat blade and no fan, unlike the older models, it leaves great wads of clippings on my lawn. So, to get a nice clean cut takes 50% longer as I have to go back and mow over the clumps. I wish I had read the reviews rather than going on past experience. Not a happy camper!

Lightweight and inexpensive, does a good job of cutting the grass. BUT the bag fits poorly, sometimes allowing grass and small rocks to actually hit you. The bag also frequently falls off. The height adjustment also slips, suddenly actually scraping the ground. The "safety grip" requires you to squeeze it to keep the motor running -- but actually began to stick, so I had to pull it loose. All this after mowing just three times! I took it back.

Pros: Light weight, reasonably cheap, no expensive battery to worry about. Cons: Its made mostly of plastic, and the parts under tension/stress just wear out fast. The wheel lift/lower mechanism on mine no longer locks in place, so it just falls to the lowest setting and just grinds into the ground. There is no photo or detail in the manual so I cannot see how or where it should lock to check if there is a broken or worn pin. Basically the mower is unusable. Worked well while it lasted.

Do not purchase this poorly manufactured and built piece of junk. I purchased mine from my local Ace over a year ago. The blade has fallen off a few times. The screws keeping the motor suspended in place have fallen out. The height adjuster will not lock into place. The skirt is ripped. I regret ever wasting money on this.

This mower was so easy to assemble, works great and cuts the grass just fine... comfortable to use. Carrie, in NJ

Lawnmower itself works fine. But be prepared to find a bug area to store. I've not measured it but the handle is at least 5 feet long. Could easily have been made 1.5 feet shorter. If a 17 inch lawnmower is made for small lawns then to maneuver it around small patches of grass it needs a small handle.

This mower is extremely more difficult to maneuver on a small flat lot than the previous 2012 model. A most annoying nuisance is the necessity to use two hands to turn it on. Sure it cuts the grass but it’s a headache to maneuver as the handles are vertical rather than horizontal.

Machine screws were hard to use in the pre-drilled holes during assembly. Either the pre-drilled holes were not threaded properly or the screw threads were at fault. B&D quality control needs to do better. Be prepared to perhaps encounter this problem when assembling. This is the third B&D mower I have purchased since 1998. First one with a grass bag and 12.5 amps is the most powerful so far.

I've always used a regular gas operated mower and HATED it. We recently bought the 12 amp electric Black and Decker and couldn't be happier. It cuts effortlessly and turns on with the push of a button. The comfort grip handles make long periods of mowing a breeze. We had gone on vacation and our lawn was out of control, where normal mowers would get bogged down, this one kept on cutting! Never will go back to a gas operated mower again

This is the best and most easy to use mower that I've ever had the pleasure of using!! I purchased this after looking and researching and decided this would fit my needs and it definitely didn't disappoint!!! It cut through my tall weeds and grass without an ounce of hesitation, so effortlessly! Ths push button start made me feel totally spoiled! This is a must have for anyone looking for an excellent quality and affordable mower no doubt! You really set the bar high with this one, Black and Decker!!! :)
