Betty Crocker Wicked Mix to Reveal Vanilla Cupcake Kit - 11.4oz

The surprise aspect was fun! The cupcake wrappers were folded in the box and were flimsy, so I used my own. The frosting was light and fluffy. The flavor was OK. You can't expect a whole lot from a box, but I enjoyed baking them with my daughter.

Tastes like I made it with an easy bake oven. Frosting is weird. Daughter had fun though and color reveal was neat.

Get any other box mix instead of this. If you insist on this product, or if you've already purchased... 1. Aim for 9-10 cupcakes, not 12. There isn't enough batter provided for 12 cupcakes. 9 is probably ideal if you can. 2. Pitch the "frosting mix" right into the trash, as it is not worth the one cup of milk it requires. It's actually insanely bad. Just use a homemade frosting, or pick up the standard Betty Crocker vanilla one in the plastic jar. Why they didn't include their classic frosting over whatever powder mix garbage is beyond me. If you have nothing else but this frosting mix, definitely add a teaspoon of vanilla and powdered sugar to taste. Otherwise, this isn't gonna work. The biggest complaints about this product are regarding the sweetness of both the cake and frosting. The cake will be a decent sweetness if you use another frosting. The frosting that comes with this ends up being a weird whipped cream-wannabe product that is not sweet. It just isn't. It's not something you want on a cupcake.

Great tasting cupcakes but we made our own buttercream icing. Didn’t like texture of whipped cream mix included.

The box came with everything you need; liners, cake mix, and frosting mix. The cake batter was noticeably lighter and more runny than other Betty Crocker mixes, and I was only able to get 9 cupcakes out of it instead of the usual 12. The concept is fun and the kids enjoyed the experience, but personally I wasn’t impressed with the taste. The flavor reminded me more of an artificial pancake mix, which was disappointing since I usually enjoy their other cake mixes. The frosting texture was also a bit gritty, even after stirring longer than recommended. Overall, I think this one needs some tweaks in production — definitely a miss for me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to make! Loved the color changing mystery mix. It was fun to see what you’re going to get. Easy ingredients to add that you may already have on hand. Not sure what the flavor maybe a subtle strawberry? but the icing is good. Value of the item was a good price. I do like how they had the icing mix with it and you just had to add milk. Fast and easy cake mix. Only thing for me was I didn’t have a hand blender so I had to hand whisk the topping haha was a good workout though.

The instructions were easy to follow but they had no structure to them at the end. Im sure it was user error because I've had Betty Crocker cakes before and they've all been great. The kids did love the surprise color of it. I will give these another shot without the kids help to try to figure out our mistake ha!

The good thing is the girls had fun seeing what kind they ended up making and was great time. I did add some vanilla in so the kids thought they were good not great but good. I didn’t think they were very flavorful thankfully added the vanilla or probably would not been very good at all. So sorry to say this recipe needs lots of work fun idea nice thing to do with kids but.,

The directions were easy to follow even if you have never baked before. I will purchase again not only is the packaging nice but it’s delicious 🤤

They gave more frosting powder than cake mix powder. Also the frosting wasn’t all that sweet at all. Although i dont like overly sweet frosting, this didn’t have any flavor to me.
