This soil blend contains natural, organic, and nutritious fertilizer as well as moisture-retaining coconut coir and beneficial mycorrhizae for enhanced root growth. Our All-Purpose Potting Mix is peat-free, meaning that instead of imported peat, the base of our soils is made from upcycled plant matter and wood fines. Q: Does it cause gnats?

A: Yes! The bag was filled with gnats and not my house is infested with fungus gnats. It’s been two weeks of trying to get rid of them.

It's not that the potting mix causes gnats directly — rather, it provides the kind of conditions (moisture + organic material) that gnats like if the mix is kept wet. To prevent gnats, it's important to let the top layer of the soil dry out between waterings, use good drainage, and consider adding a top dressing like sand or diatomaceous earth, which makes it harder for gnats to breed. Q: How do I get rid of the fungus gnats that have taken over my house due to this potting soil? The bag was filled with gnats and when I opened it they swarmed out. I have been dealing with a gnat infestation for two weeks!

Depending on the soil bag, the organic fertilizers could have ingredients derived from milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, or soy. Not bad
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was excited to try this since so many from the local store have fruit flies that becomes a problem. It seems like a good blend with substance. So far for a week, I haven't seen any fruit flies. I used it for my aloe and seems to be alive from the initial water. I didn't see any fungus growing either. The soil did reduce in size by almost half once I watered it. So you will need more soil than originally planned.

Indoor beauties flourishing

Some were not looking the best, but as you can tell they are flourishing now. This soil made a big difference and has kept the pests away from them with our sudden warm winter weather. A little dusty but works great

It has all natural ingredients and contains more organic nutrients that will better benefit your plans. It was very easy to scoop the soil into my pots and the texture wasn’t too firm. It has a rich smell and contains a lot of organic material. The bag is easy to open, but also contains a lot of beneficial information if you are new to planting plants such as a soil and water guide. Overall this a rich soil with beneficial organic materials!

I’d give it less than one star if I could. Had it sitting in a cabinet for a few months and next thing I know there is a gnat infestation. they were everywhere!
