A: Not if you "scrunch out the crunch." If you apply a lot and then don't scrunch your hair, yes, it'll be crispy/hard, because it's high-hold gel.

Please bring back old formula!!!
I have been a loyal user of Aussie Instant Freeze Gel for years, but immediately noticed a difference with the new product formulation. This gel has less hold and takes twice the amount of product as before!! The previous version with Jojobo Oil and Sea Kelp on the label was perfection. Why try to fix somerpthing that was not broke? Please offer the older formulation once again!

Not strong hold
I have a loose wave pattern and individual hair strands on the finer side. I scrunched in gobs of this stuff, but it left no cast. I tried in on soaking wet hair and damp hair. I tried it with and without leave-in conditioner underneath. My waves did not last one day with this gel.

Horrible reformulation
Genuinely the worst downgrade i’ve seen in a product EVER. A lot of companies like to take products that are working exceptionally well and reformulate it and it almost always gets worse but this was exceptionally bad. The old gel gave me hold, definition, and a beautiful cast that scrunched out into soft ringlets. This one has NO CAST, no hold and no weather resistance. You’d be adding product just for the sake of adding product if you use this. Such a shame bc the old one was my go to above high end gels which I have too and I still reached for this far more. So disappointed, genuinely don’t understand why brands do thus

However, in April 2024, Canada introduced a new regulation mandating the disclosure of fragrance allergens on the artwork of on-pack labels for cosmetic products. This update applies to all products available in Canada. While the ingredient lists may appear longer, please note that the formulas themselves have not changed. Aussie Instant Freeze Gel was one of the products impacted by this change. However, since you did not get the desired results, we would recommend giving our Aussie Instant Freeze Sculpting Mousse a try to see if you get better results. Great for toddlers gentle hair!
Love it for kids or baby hair. If you are looking for extreme hold this is not it but for a soft hold yes. I use this on my daughter’s hair and it holds well but easily after some hours her baby hairs start to fall out. I’ve used it on my son as well and it holds a bit and about two hours later the hold stops but keeps the hair mold to the style that it was just it’s easy to dissolve. It doesn’t leave any flakes or residue and smells great! But if you’re looking for that good super hold that hardens to stay in place this is not it. I do love it for little ones hair which I’ll keep repurchasing for that reason.

Garbage
It is no exaggeration to say that this gel is the worst I've ever used. I can put in as much as I want and the most I can possibly get from it is disgusting, sticky hair with somehow ZERO hold. It is better to use no gel at all than it is to use this one.

Please bring back the old formula!! I used the old formula for years on my curly hair and it was the only affordable gel that works for me!! Unfortunately, the new formula doesn’t work like the old one and I had to stop using it after many years! Please bring the old stuff back!!!

Please bring back the old formula
The old instant freeze formula was the first gel I used on my curly hair journey and it was the BEST hair gel I’ve ever used. It was the perfect balance of moisture and hold, and it didn’t make my blonde hair look darker, which a lot of curly hair products do. It was part of my hair routine since 2018 it was that good! Since Aussie changed their formula for the gel, I only had to use it once to notice that the new formula was not as good. My hair was dryer, duller, and the gel had less hold. I don’t recommend the new formula at all. Aussie, you had the perfect gel formula, please bring it back!

Not Flaky When Dry
Several people here say they get white and flaky pieces in their hair- this gel does not do that! I use quite a bit and have never had that problem. If your hair is soaking wet and you apply the gel, it might look like there’s a little soap or foam on your strands but that doesn’t show up on the finished style You must use a clarifying shampoo at least once a month to get rid of any product buildup on your scalp and hair. It’s possible that the people saying this have very dry hair or don’t wash their hair much???

SIMPLY, THE BEST!!!!
I have been using this for the past few weeks and have never got so many compliments on my curls - I am 66 years young! My curls look fabulous ( have to agree) and I would not change this for anything. Used Aussie when I was in my 20's and always loved it, however over the past few decades I have relied and SPENT more on different products. Who knew I would be coming back to Aussie and leaving this comment!!! Please do not stop making this product!!!
