Book Synopsis

A Story of Survival

In 1777, amid the American Revolution, fifteen-year-old Daniel Asbury joins the Virginia militia to support the settlers in Kentucky. Eager to leave home and see the world, the militia is a ticket to a grand adventure. During the march to Kentucky, they face opposition not only from the enemy, but also from within their own ranks, creating even more danger in the already treacherous wilderness.

As the war rages on, tensions rise between the Kentucky settlers and the Native Americans. While on a mission outside Fort Boonesborough, Daniel's unit is captured by Shawnee Indians who debate whether to kill the Americans or force them to join the tribe. Daniel's resolve is tested time and again as he strives to survive the perils of the wilderness and the war, plotting ways to escape and find his way back home.

This historical novel brings to life the true events of Daniel Asbury's life and his journey from unbelief to faith in God while revealing an often-forgotten side of the War of American Independence.
