Book Synopsis

A teen reclaims her independence and opens her heart to Christmas with the help of a handsome ski instructor in this swoon-worthy young adult holiday romance told in a groundbreaking advent calendar format, with chapter-a-day reading making it a true slow-burn!

When eighteen-year-old April heads to the foothills of Mont Blanc in the Alps to spend her first Christmas at her father's chalet, she's hoping for a change. Ever since her heart operation two years ago, she's lived as carefully as possible. Supervised exercise, green tea, rice cakes, focusing only on her studies. But now, she's healthy and there's a world out there that she's missing.

When April's ski instructor turns out to be her best friend's older brother, Augustin, it feels like a sign. As Augustin encourages April to build up her strength, April feels drawn to him in ways she wasn't expecting. Augustin is daring and gorgeous, and April doesn't want to let her life pass her by any longer. But is her just-healed heart ready for a Christmas miracle?

With this book's unique advent calendar format, each of the twenty-four chapters is sealed by its own perforated enclosure that readers can gently tear open--by hand or with the help of a ruler--to read a chapter a day in the weeks leading to Christmas!

love that the chapters are each "wrapped" so you can open one a day to read. the story wasn't my favorite, but still a fun Christmas read!

Great book, fun concept.

I dont understand the reviews on this one. Personally I loved it. It was a great holiday love story. I personally don’t have the patience to only do one chapter at a time so I finished early by a week but well worth it. I hope they make more of these.

Total DNF

I loved the idea of a advent book, but this was horrible. I endured 3 whole horribly written/translated chapters before I gave up & said no more. I rarely DNF a book, but I couldn't take any more.

Fun gift!!!

This is such a fun gift!! Received it from my friend. It’s a “hallmark love story”…if you’re looking for a Pulitzer novel, you’ll be disappointed. If you love “hallmark” holiday stories, you’ll love it!! So cute!

i want to throw this book away

if you are someone that takes pride in owning your books and taking care of them, do NOT buy this. now, im not an idiot and i knew the chapters were all sealed but i didnt realize that every single page in the book was as well. no matter how careful i was, almost half the pages in my book have ripped up edges now. whoever came up with this design needs to rethink their career choice. a job in publishing with absolutely no clue that when someone spends $20 for a book, they would like it to at least be in decent condition

Bad in a good way book

Arrived on time. Story is a very bad cheesy love story but it is exactly the kind a story I was looking for. It is near impossible to rip the pages without ripping them a bit but I been enjoying the process. Get this if you enjoy bad cheesy romance novels, Goodreads has accurate reviews

Good book

Despite other reviews I enjoyed this book. Little piece of advice, I used a rat tail comb it had a metal end. It worked perfect! No ripped pages!

Tip for opening the pages

I’m using a wooden ruler that has a metal edge to open the perforated pages and it’s working great for me. I like the length of the chapters and it’s manageable to complete a chapter for each day. I’m enjoying the story and characters so far.

Don't do it

If I thought they’d take it back with pages opened, I would do it. Cute idea, but execution in English is terrible. I’m pretty sure this is originally written in French and is probably a cute story. Any and everything good is “lost in translation” as they say!

Horrible Execution and Story

The idea of an advent-calendar-style book was adorable, and I was excited to start it on December 1. Unfortunately, the execution is terrible. Each “day” is sealed with perforated edges that are almost impossible to open without ripping everything. It’s not just the chapter cover that tears—the pages inside are connected, so if the perforation goes wrong, you can kiss that whole section goodbye. I ended up having to manually tear apart every page in the first chapter. The story itself doesn’t make up for it either. It’s flat, and after a week I was so disengaged that the hassle of opening each section just wasn’t worth it. Save your money and skip this one.

Poor traslation

It only took a few pages for me to question if this book was a translation. The phrasing and wording is odd and for me very distracting. It felt like I was reading English subtitles. I couldn’t get into a rhythm and after the 5th chapter put it in the discard pile. I’m sure it’s a cute story in French, it’s disappointing that the story got lost in translation.

Nice concept, poor execution

The story is OK so far, I’m only a few days in, but the chapters are impossible to “unwrap” without tearing pages. This sounded like a fun idea, but it’s become annoying very fast, and now I have a book with a bunch of ripped pages.

Bought for my 16 year old daughter. Shes only read 2 chapters so far and says it’s written terribly. The idea of an advent book was cute but not worth the money.

Don't waste your time or money

Horrible writting. Maybe if you have a child thats on like a middle school reading level. Don't waste your money, I hope they can take it back after I opened a couple days. Hard to open also.
