Heartbreak to Healing
What a great beginning to The Hope of Cheyenne series. From the breathtaking cover to the final page you will be transported to 1887 Cheyenne Wyoming and the trials a rancher and his family face especially when the devastating snow brings heartbreak and devastation. This is a story of loss but also of hope and restoration. The characters are wounded, raw, and real in their grief but also have strength, determination, and faith that sees them through. I was drawn in and felt like I was part of the story as I felt such compassion. Watching the characters grow and finding joy in their lives again is heartwarming. The pacing is spot on and the characters identifiable that makes for a story that flows from one page to the next. I look forward to reading more in this series. I definitely recommend adding to your TBR pile. I received a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

Hope after a hard winter
Micah and Charlotte have been neighbors since she was four years old. They are both grown now and a very bad winter froze and killed many of their cattle. A big loss but an even greater loss happens to both families. Charlotte goes against her father’s wishes to marry a prominent lawyer in their town. She will only marry for love. I admired her and her mother’s strength through all of this tragedy. Turning more and more to God in spite of all that had happened showed much character on their part. However Micah hid away and went to drinking. Evil lurks where no one expects it. Will evil win out? I read this novel in record time for me. I wanted to find out the ending but did not cheat and read the ending until I got to it. I can highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit but was not required to write a review.

PROTECTING LOVE
“Someday, I believe we’ll understand, but for now we have two choices. We either give up on God and walk away, or we trust Him no matter what happens to us,” Charlotte recalls Micah’s words in Tracie Peterson’s novel, A Constant Love. ~ What ~ The first book in The Hope of Cheyenne series, this 302-page paperback targets those interested in a historical romance about a young woman in Wyoming who is determined to marry the only person she loves. With no profanity, topics involving lying, suicide, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. Set in 1887 on a cattle ranch outside of Cheyenne, twenty-one-year-old Charlotte is vehemently averse to marrying the man her father has chosen. But when several families deal with the deathly harsh winter, she and Micah, the man she really loves, must forgive themselves and get rid of the guilt they carry to find love. ~ Why ~ People living in the American West had to have fortitude and determination to overcome their often tragic experiences, and this read included how the Great Die-Up changed the cattle industry. The innocence of the two protagonists who were in love was tender while being consistent in a land where women ranchers were unaccepted. I appreciate that the story included the eternal plan of salvation and that trusting in God is important. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not like this story that focuses on God’s presence while healing from tragedy, but the prayers, sermons, and verses were not overdone. Some may not like the reason lies were propagated to shield others or themselves. ~ Wish ~ With lying being involved in this tale, it may have been done to preserve the innocent, but it didn’t deal with one character’s outcome enough. ~ Want ~ If you like a western romance about trusting God in all things, even when it’s heartbreaking, this first book in the series concentrates on protecting love at all costs. Thanks to Bethany House and Interviews & Reviews for this complimentary book. I am under no obligation to give a positive review.
