The final assembled product feels substantial and durable, looks fantastic, and is easily the best piece of home-assembled furniture I’ve purchased in the last decade. No disappointments here!

Wanted something sturdy for my daughter's bedroom that didn't break the bank. This fit the bill. It's real wood, very heavy and durable. I had no issues putting it together myself, I found the instructions easy to follow, One reviewer said they had to drill holes to attach the back. I simply screwed them in by hand as the end was sharp. It looks very nice and holds a lot!

I’ll tell you what I don’t like: to be lied to. Target should remove this product from its shelves, it brings no gain but bad reputation to my favorite store and the cost + headache to return and restore it. THIS IS NOT WOOD, ITS MADE OF shredded wood

The bookshelf is advertised as unfinished, but it still needs to be sanded for the stain to be absorbed. Also, the written instructions are difficult to follow.

Welcome to our Target inspired reading corner, lol! Nice heavy, actual wood bookcase. It fits the spot perfectly. We are old school and love being surrounded by books. This came securely wrapped, was easy to put together and holds several books. Highly recommend.

Was advertised as constructed solid hardwood not so. Was constructed with particle board.

I got this on sale, so the price was only a little higher than the standard cheap college dorm-level bookshelves. But this one is worth it at full price. It is heavy, stable, and sturdy, and most of it is solid wood. It looks very nice in my living room and I expect we will be using it for decades. My only problem with it was that there were no holes drilled in the back of the shelf to attach the backing board. Not a huge problem, we drilled them ourselves, but an annoying extra step. Otherwise it was easy to assemble.

originally ordered 2. now added a third one. Very well packaged. No damage. No missing hardware. Easy to assemble. Very solid hard wood construction. Back panel is a solid piece but the usual thin compressed product which most furniture today uses. Good news is there are two solid wood strips to support in the back and the panel slides into grooves for more support. Hardware for assembly consists of heavy metal screws with washers. Very easy and sturdy. Not as cheep as some shelves but doesn't look cheep. Looks great. Hint: I started by putting the top piece flat on floor and attaching sides. Then add the bottom. Basically build upside down. Was easier for me.

Amazing shelf! Real wood, sturdy and well built. Easy to understand instructions and easy for 1 person to build. I love the unfinished wood and later I can stain it.

The bookcase is reasonably attractive, sturdy and fairly easy to put together, although the instructions are very limited and contain no information on staining/painting. There is no website to check for further information on assembling, only a phone number (answering machine, I left a question, but never received a return call). I was to assemble the top, bottom and stationary shelves to one side, then attach the other side. If I did it again, I would assemble as instructed, except for the top. After the shelves and bottom are attached to both sides, then turn upright and attach the top. That way there won't be a space the sides to the top of the case, it would look more professional. Also the screws for the backboards (which are flimsy) are self drilling. It would have been nice to note that in the instructions. As far as finishing, I would look online for further info. I stained my island water, but didn't use a stain prep product and the staining ended up slightly blotchy, but it still looks nice. PLUS, the only tool needed is a phillips screwdriver. No drill needed. I will likely buy another parawood piece from IC.
