A: Hello Melissa - We appreciate your interest in this item. To add pepper to the Threshold Acacia Round Pepper Grinder, unscrew the top silver knob and remove the top cap. Pour whole peppercorns into the center chamber, being careful not to overfill, then replace the top cap and screw the nut back on to secure it and adjust the grind coarseness. Q: What's the difference between the salt & pepper grinders? Are they essentially the same/interchangeable or are they designed or marked differently?
