Handcrafted in the Black Forest of Germany, it includes carved trees, a deer, a dog, and a traditional chalet-style case. On the hour and half-hour, the cuckoo bird appears to announce the time, followed by one of two melodies: Edelweiss or The Happy Wanderer. Three cast iron pine cone weights power the timekeeping, music, cuckoo call, and animated elements. A manual lever beneath the clock enables a full sound and motion shut-off when needed.
