Monoprice 100-pcs RJ45 Modular Plug for Cat6 Solid Cable

Yeah, it definitely does not fit. If you strip the shielding off the individual wires, then you stand a chance of getting it to go into the little guide... but then what's the point? I see that it's the staggered design, but either this is just a cheap product or the cat-6 23AWG CM STP bought on here just is incompatible. I've gotten it to work with keystones (p/n 5379), so I think the problem is just that these connectors suck.

Just too difficult to insert wires into the tiny holes. Kept getting error messages after using tester.

The assembly is very easy but the latch does not work well at all. you have to pry it well out of place and even then they may not latch.

This does not fit solid Cat6 cable. It is virtually impossible to fit it through the collar. It might work with cheaper cat6 cable, but when pairing with better cable, it won?t fit. Wasted money and product is going in the trash. Too bad, I generally like monoprice?s products.

I'd consider myself a patient person. Not with these, just threw the whole bag in the garbage. I've made cables with the one piece connectors for years now, not a novice with this. (Prob 500+ cables in my lifetime) Cat 6a - Impossible. 2 hours of attempts on a single cable. 23AWG won't fit for the life of me in the 'organizer'. Tried the 4x2 inserts, 8x1 insert, 1x8 insert, nothing. Couldn't get 1 finished. Cat 5e - Doable if you have an hour per cable. I've spent about 1.5hrs on a 6ft practice cable and I got 1 side done. The last side will not work for the life of me. Even this cable won't insert into these garbage organizers. (Just seeing if my 6a cable was the issue... oh that cable was from Monoprice also.) I've watched 10 Youtube videos and the same connector type on those videos slide right in.

These are okay inserts. You will (probably) need to trim them multiple times, and inserting them isn?t always easy as a small corner may get stuck, or the copper tap is too low, or something else, but usually you can manage to get them on, and crimped. They aren?t passthroughs, but passthroughs are still, and will always be, incredibly overpriced. One positive point of these style of inserts though is that, though you have to trim it multiple times, requiring you to insert them using the cable means that they will be trimmed so short that you will never have to worry about missing the sleeve when you crimp, and with or without protective boots, they will always look clean.

I bought several colors of these when they were on sale to try them out. I couldn't be more pleased with them. After crimping several hundred RJ45 connectors making atleast 100 cables I have had 0 failures using a Klein Tools standard RJ45 ratchet crimper. Good job monoprice!

Note: These work great on lower CAT cable. But are extremely difficult on underground Rated CAT6A cables

not too crazy with the light red over the clear but they work perfectly fine! tried a few and all are perfect.

Holes in the insert are too small for 23awg Cat6 cable, also purchased from Monoprice. Unfortunately that means this is going in the trash. It would probably be fine for Cat5.

Made installing cable a breeze with the included inserts. I did not have to rewire any of my ends.

After 20 years of building cables I am still shaking my head at how many people think that these connectors are functionally sound. I was very excited to see the new colors and thought they might have found a new manufacturer who was making these connectors with the load bar again... nope. The gap in the load bar is only functional for the heaviest outdoor rated cables. This load bar is designed to provide strain relief for the connector by pressing in on the outer sheathing of the Cat6 cable and with the gab it simply does not make contact and put any pressure on the cable.

Although the colors I order may vary, I love this two-piece design - it makes ensuring that everything is correct before crimping them down. They install in seconds with a consistency that is unparalleled by any other connector I've used; I refuse to use anything else. You won't go wrong with choosing this connector!

Although I order different colors, this design remains the favorite and only one I'll use for my network installs. They install consistently every time, are the fastest I've used, and once I've made a solid, tested connection, I've never had one fail. I love the two-piece design (which makes ensuring that the connection will be right before you crimp things down easy) and the overall ruggedness of it. You won't go wrong choosing this connector!

Like many others, I didn't realize what "with inserts" meant. I had ordered CAT5e heads from Monoprice before and they were exactly what I needed. These CAT6 heads looked to be the same thing, but they are quite different. There's a PDF on this page with instructions from the 1800s on how to use the inserts, but look on YouTube for "two piece high performance cat6" or "cat6 loading bar" to really see how to use these. I get it, and I see what they were going for, but it just doesn't add any value. The insert makes crimping cables harder and take longer. It does support 23AWG solid cables (also from Monoprice), but just barely. I wish Monoprice sold normal CAT6 plugs; all of them are either shielded, have inserts, or are passthrough. The passthrough plugs have the same idea of simplifying crimping and actually do so - but they're much more expensive and generally need a different (more expensive) crimper.

The plugs worked fine for me. I got them to work the first time. I used them with the bulk CAT6 23AWG cable from monoprice. I did not have any problem with the size of the cable. Tip: you have to cut the wires diagonally all together before inserting them into the inserts. That way you can insert them all at once. Check Youtube videos for instructions. My only criticism is that they should make these videos easier to find.
