Q: does any part the system pass waterthrough filter containing copper? does this potentially allow copper levels to raise? Eco filter brand adds 6x copper cuz it passes through filter containing copper.

submitted by spring cleaner - 11 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. No part of the LifeStraw Home system—including the membrane or carbon filters—passes water through any component made of or containing copper. As a result, the filtration process does not introduce copper into the water. In fact, the activated carbon and ion exchange resin used in our filters are designed to reduce heavy metals, including copper, if present in the source water. I hope this helps answer your question!

Q: Do the unopened cartridges dry out after how many months in storage?Do cartridges fit all your pitchers & counter top models? doesn't bacteria build up if you do not refrigerate pitcher after filling?

submitted by spring cleaner - 11 months ago
  • A: Hello! Thank you for your questions. I hope I can help clarify. Shelf Life of Unopened Filters: Our carbon + ion exchange filters do not have a shelf life if left unopened and stored in a cool, dry place. Filter Compatibility: The carbon + ion exchange filter is compatible with all LifeStraw Home models, including glass and BPA-free plastic pitchers and dispensers. It’s a universal fit across our countertop-style products. Bacteria Buildup Without Refrigeration: Once the pitcher is filled, we recommend using the filtered water within 24–48 hours if it's kept at room temperature. Refrigeration helps slow any potential bacterial growth, especially in warmer environments. If not refrigerated, we suggest refreshing the water daily for best taste and safety. Let us know if you need help with anything else.

Q: Can these filters be left to dry out and then beginning to use quite a time later- like 3 weeks? Or do these filters need to remain in use (wet) continuously?

submitted by Lisa - 2 years ago
  • A: For durations less than a couple of months they can be dried out and stored in a sealable, airtight container or bag. If you're going to be storing this for more than two months we recommend replacing the carbon filter when your resume use.

    Meh

Thought this was glass like my pitcher that recently broke because of the not do great filter removal, but its plastic and it absorbs fridge and food smells. Wish I could return it but now it just collects dust in a cupboard.

    “5” Star Product

Learned of your product through a friend while on vacation. As soon as I returned home I purchased everything thing from the pitcher to a years replacement of filters. One of the most amazing products I own. It produces crisp and crystal clear results. The water even tastes better! I make my morning coffee, my ice cubes, and my drinking water everyday with this amazing product. I recommend it to everyone!!!

    Fabulous!

This is a game changer. After walking through the set up, we ‘taste tested’ the water compared to tap and the filtered from our fridge. You could definitely taste the difference! The pitcher, to my surprise, is a bit heavy, especially when full of water, so that’s the only ‘issue’ as I get used to that when pouring water.

    Great Investment

Bought this to add to our travel trailer on top of the filter at the hose connection. Way more inexpensive than buying some elaborate system to filter water for the trailer on top of that water taste was fantastic and wife being picky about the water in the trailer pipe not being sanitary even she loved it. Can’t say how much I would highly recommend this pitcher.

Love the taste and the assurance of safe water when we are traveling! It is certainly a lot slower to filter than I would prefer but good things come to those who wait.

    Disappointed

We’ve been using LifeStraw for a couple of years. We love the filtration. Our water dispenser started dripping and has been dripping for awhile. When I saw they were on sale, I ordered a replacement. Now I have the new one and it drips too.

    No instructions on membrane microfilmer

With enthusiasm, I jut unboxed my new home water filter dispenser. Instructions say to remove and rinse the membrane microfilmer, but there is no way to get it out. I tried to call, seek help, etc. But I had to leave an email address and it will be 3 days to get an answer. No you tube video, no written instructions. Just a blank. This is just awful. The dang thing is stuck up in there, the top won't come off, and I can't use the new filter. What the heck? Very disappointed.

    Temperamental but decent taste

This was a replacement for our two year old original. The plastic dispensing surround and alignment slots deteriorate over time and finally break. This unit is used exclusively by two older adults. Also it can be very difficult to set up the filters in the unit without having to deal with airlock issues. I never let the unit get below 1/4 full. The filtered water tastes pretty clean but is not without any flavor which is what I am used to after using steam distillers for 40 years. I still used distilled for coffee but want more minerals in my drinking water.

    Dispenser

Water tastes good. No annoyance there. Problems are: 1). the teenie, tiny apparatus/spout designed to push so that water flows from dispenser into a glass: it is too small, only sticking out from pitcher wall about 1/16 inch, and, 2). Water flow from dispenser spout into the pitcher is waaaaay too slow, so I dont do it. . . . . It takes forever to fill up anything larger capacity than a small cup. I have to wait till all theater has filtered, is in pitcher, remove filter section, THEN pour into pitcher or larger cup/tumbler. Whew. Hope it is understandable! Thx

    Pitcher

I’m actually highly upset, I was led to believe that I bought a glass pitcher and that’s what was so good about this besides the filtration system. I received a plastic water pitcher that I have been giving to my toddler for a month now while I was trying to avoid micro plastics and I just realized that it was supposed to be glass so yes, I am a little upset about it and it would be very nice if I could receive a glass picture free of charge because I feel like it was a little bit of false advertisement. Thank you.

This water dispenser is great! Easy to set up and use. I drink a lot of what so I am happy to no longer be constantly refilling a pitcher.

    So far so good!

I enjoy having a plastic free option (minus the filter of course) and I love that this filters out so many different things. For the price point you cannot go wrong. One small thing I noticed at first, like what many others were saying that it does take awhile to filter. But over time and use it moves a bit quicker. I see it as, if it takes awhile to filter its being thorough in filtering out possible contaminates.
